Hi my name is Jeff Mullins. I have a 1984 v4 magna and my girlfriend has a 1983 Interceptor vf750f. Last Wed. she rode up to my sons school to help w/ playday and her bike died on the way but restarted and got her there. It would not however start when time to leave. I did get it to start Fri night but it ran for a bit and then just quit. I had a friend look at it and he said it is either a fuel pump or a fuel pump relay. He said the pump was pulsing irradicly when he put his finger over the output. The tank was 3/4 full and I have heard thats enough for gravity to keep it running but it would just die and not start back up. It had been running great for the last hundred miles or so and then all of a sudden it did this. I am stumped and dont have a lot of money to just start buying parts if they dont fix it. Is there any easy way to know for sure what the problem is? Are there any parts on my magna I could swap to check that way? Any helpful advise will be greatly appriciated.
    Thanks
    Jeff Mullins

Disconnect the fuel pump relay and run the line straight from the tank to the carbs. This will eliminate the pump/ and or filter as a culprit.

Do a fuel pump flow test - it's in the manual.

Replace the fuel filter (should only be one - usually under the fuel pump).
