Okay I am in the planning stages for a bike build. The base bike will be a gen 6 VFR. What I am looking for is a closer than not a bolt on for an 18" front wheel that will utilize the OEM forks, brakes, etc. I have looked at the ST1300 front wheel and it is to wide and I cannot mount the VFR brake rotors on that wheel.

My intent is more of an adventure bike that a sport tour. I like doing dirt roads and the 18" wheel lends itself better on those types of roads. Ideally I should change out the front end to something with more travel but not to start with.

So has anyone put an 18" front wheel on a gen 6 and if so what did you use?

Going off-road with an engine that heavy doesn't seem like fun.

Big difference with off road and back roads. All in all these are great bikes with minimal work and thought they can become a good all around bike cheaply.

And as far as the VFR1200X is concerned. I think there is great possibility there, but I don't have $20k to get it setup for what I want. Don't get me wrong I think I would really like one but $$$$ are not there. The NC700 is a city bike and not really well suited for what I am looking for.

Besides project bikes are always fun as long as you don't plan on selling them.
