    150€ vfr750f rc36-i

    Hi!

    I always wanted a VFR750F RC36........

....and came across a 90´VFR750F in original color for 150 €. And bought it. Only one PO.

Its a abused bike from a Streetfighter-club - think of burnouts etc.

204xxx Km (!) on the clock.

So, after a quick look on the bike, I found some shortcomings. No surprise....

    - engine starts only with carb cleaner on all cylinders. Without only three are running- carb job. No mechanical noises.
    - exhaust manifolds... which manifolds and collector? a little rusty.... Can just dented
    - strechd chain - centimeters, not milimeters :)
    - no clutch lever - fitted a ZX11 lever und hurray it works
    - brakes ok
    - swingarm - wheel and steering bearings ok
    - fairing not that bad - needs polishing and some super-glue :)
    - it shifts trough all gears. Clutch should work.
    - needs tires
    - RC36-II rim back there
    - forks are corroded on the surface

I would say thats a testament for the excellent build quality.

My plan - second life for the bike for 300 - 400 $ (350 €) using cheap parts excluding tires - which I have already.

    - secondhand manifolds and collector found on e*** for 70 $
    - secondhand chain and sprockets in good condition for 45 $
    - new spark plugs, new tires, new oil.
    - complete carb-rebuild using a cheap rebuild-kit
    - some polish and glue

    Good plan?

Someone want to see her in all her current *glory*?

    Edit: Sorry - 150 Euro, not $.

Nice rescue project! I do like the look of the 1990 VFR. Good luck with it.

not sure if you mean 150 U.S. dollars but even in euros you did very well for yourself. look forward to watching your progress with the bike, enjoy!

    Hi!

    Thanks guys.

Carbs are on my bench and, they stink - very. Just like the oil - smells like burned rubber, or stator-insolation. Or burned clutch...

Did a compression-test. Cylinder number one 10.5 bar, number two 9.x bar, number three 9.x, four...... 8 bar. I bet tight inlet valves. Have to check this.

    Yeah. 150 €. Not $. :)

Ok, not true: add 25 € for the trailer, 50 € for gas and 6 for cigaretts..... :)
