After coming to a standstill i,ve cracked it.To all those out there interested this is what i,ve done to go from about 94-95hp at the the tyre to 116.2hp.1) Staintune carbon pipe,k&n ,desnorkel,= 98hp.2)power commander=106hp.3)Erion headers and militec metal conditioner=111.1hp.4)AT this stage ihad metal ceramic coated the headers which helped down low heaps.I had it tested and it was down to 104.7hp?I discovered the injectors were dirty.I then had the airbox snorkel hole opened up to the top and bottom of the top lid. I also had spacers about 5mm long fitted under the front tank bolts lifting the front of the tank up for more air. This mod made 1-2hp everywhere in the rev range. With the dirty injectors (the operator didn,t pick this) he remapped it and got 109.9hp.5) Over christmas new year i pulled the injectors out and had a mobile service come and ultrasonicly clean them,$120.They flowed between 49cc-52cc at 40psi.When cleaned they all flowed 57cc .Upon refitting them it went much better down 2-2500rpm but was quite snatchy.I then replaced my 40000km old chain and went to have it remapped by a different power commander tuner. He ran the bike as is and it made 110.9hp but was very grumpy and hard to ride.He disconnected the fresh air system (ball bearings in the half inch hose from the rocker covers)as it was playing havoc with mixtures. He remapped it and pulled out alot of ignition timing fixed the snatchiness and now it hammers out 116.2 hp in a hot dyno room.Save for head porting or a big bore 870kit i think thats about as much as you can squeeze a vfr for.I hope this helps shortcut my journey into the unknown for others. For absolute fanatics i,m told by dynamo humm the 870 kit adds 17hp at the tyre.A vfr with 133hp at the tyre? Who needs a sports bike?

    Howdy,

Cool report. Wish I had your budget for playing with my bike! I had to settle for about 105HP at the rear wheel. This is on our 98 VFR 800. It has a full stainless 2Bros with C5 Titanim pipe, K&N air filter, PCII with custom map and running 87 octane. It's plenty fast for me  ;D

I am curious about the pulling of the injectors and the cleaning? Who do you call for that kind of service? Would not running some kind of over the counter injector cleaner do about the same thing?

    Adios,

I,ve tried fuel system cleaners(motul)and they only help for that tank of fuel.Nothing cleans as well as ultrasonic cleaning and testing.I,ve learn,t this from cars and now bikes. My bike is setup to embarass sportsbike riders on track days and after doing the superbike schools that is becoming a reality. These schools teach you to lose the ego and improve technique which makes you faster and safer(Albeit with less friends on faster bikes). My vfr is the same colour with metallic gunmetal centres.

Ever considered using 2003 VFR injectors? 12 laser drilled holes!! Thats what I'm going to try next.

Care to share the Powercommander maps?

When the bike was last mapped he made it rich down low to about 3500.This takes the snatchiness away alot but has a side affect. It gives you less torque off the mark, needing more clutch slip.I,m considering a tci computer from s&r pro. This is a full interceptor with real time tuning.Th pc2,s biggest fault lies in the fact that they are tuned at 85c+.So on warm up they are quite muddy and spluttery. On a winter ride the bike may never get over 55-60celcius and hence performs poorly. The pc3 intercepts between the computer and injectors so the computer sees the correct atmospherics which in my mind would eliminate the cold start problems.Look up sydney dyno under dyno printouts and you will see the dyno printout.

I'm not finding S&R Pro on the net...

    Got a link for this?

I'm living here in Germany and we have large tempeture changes thru the day. And hell, it rarely gets to 85 around here!
