Hey guys, new to the bike world and i have a question. I just bought a 87 VFR700 from my buddy, again i know nothing about street bikes, what is the difference between an f1 and a f2, there are no markings on the bike other than v4 gear driven cams, is this a reliable bike and how hard to repair it has 28,000 miles on it needs some body repair but runs awsome, also it is pearl white with gold pin stripe is this a factory color? Sorry if i sound ignorant, i am a muscle car guy and like i said i am new to the bikes.
    Thanks

Welcome to the wonderful world of motorcycles! I used to be a die hard car guy, but finally opened up to bikes and have been having a blast ever since. To answer your question, I think you are a little confused. The F1 and F2 you are talking about are 600cc sportbikes made by Honda. Honda started out with the Hurricane which may be the F1, then moved to the CBR F2, CBR F3, CBR F4, then the CBR F4i, which is the fuel injected version of the F4. They still make the F4i, but their new 600 is the CBR 600RR. I guess they got away from the (F#) format.
So since you have a VFR your bike has nothing to do with the F# stuff. The VFR and CBR are totally different models. The VFR started out as the racing version in the 80's but now the CBR is the racing version and the VFR is the sport touring model. There have been 6 generations of VFR's. I am not sure what yours is but you can check here on the main forums page. As far as working on your model I am not sure, but if you have mechanics skills from cars, as I do, bikes are really pretty simple. Just get a good repair manual and you're set! Have a great time on the new bike and take it easy at first.

Welcome to the group. I son't know the differences. I have seen reference to teh F2 but not sure how accurate that reference is. Gear driven cams sound awsome, IMO!!
