I am buying my friends ’93 vfr and will be working on it this winter. It has 40k on it and runs, sounds great. Unfortunately it has been dropped a few times and is cosmetically banged up, plastics are not salvageable, most are attached with zip ties and duct tape. This will be a project bike to entertain me while it’s cold out. I plan to clean and sync the carbs, check valve clearance, replace chain and sprockets, replace some other parts that have been neglected. Instead of buying new rear fairings I was going to just remove the tail completely and replace it with something higher allowing clearance for an under the tail exhaust. My friend gave me the stock exhaust from his ’08 600rr, headers back. I know the cbr headers will not line up with the VFR’s block and this is my question, is there an aftermarket header that lines up with the ’93 VFR block and also connects with the cbr exhaust? Since I am doing away with the stock tail, a precise run up the back won’t be necessary. Hoping someone here has experience with a conversion like this, any useful tips/suggestions appreciated, thanks.
