I just bought a 2005 VFR 800A 2 weeks ago and I notice that the clutch engages right at the end of the travel of the lever. Can anyone tell me if it's normal?

Would you guys think that bleeding the clutch might help?

Also I notice when I start the bike in neutral there is no noise then, if I release the clutch with the bike still in neutral I hear the clutch turning. Is that normal? It doesn't do it in gear or when the clutch is pulled in, only when you release the clutch and the bike is in neutral.

I am using MOTUL 5100 10w-40 oil that's what the previous owner told me that he used, so I just changed my oil and decided to use the same brand.

You can make adjustment on the lever by turning the dial on the lever 1-2-3 to allow the lever extend out so you will have more room. As for the noise..I am sure someone will response shorrtly.

The slight noise difference you're hearing between clutch engagement and disengagement is completely normal. I'm not sure that I'm clear on your end of the lever engagement discription, but if your saying that there is no lever freeplay after full engagement, then that is also normal provided you can still achieve partial engagement of the clutch for slow speed manuevering and there is no slipping at high RPM.
