Just blew up the motor in my 1999 VFR (19,000 miles). Wondering if a 2000 or 2001 motor would work if i use the 99 throttle bodies? Studying the manual shows only the following changes from the 99 (that i can find), wax unit for fast idle control, and 2 oxygen sensors in the 00/01. Also i would guess the ECM may be different or at least have an additional connection for the oxygen sensors. So if i take a 00/01 motor, use my 1999 throttle bodies, 99water pump (avoids the water hose connection for the wax unit), and of course my 99 ECM it should work. Am i missing anything here? seems to me that just keeping a 99 throttle body/water pump/ECM should allow me to use a 00/01 engine in my 99 VFR.

I have a 00 in my 98. I have had a few issues but it runs. Somehow I am lean but eventually maybe I'll figure it out.

You should have no problem. Motor is the same for 98-2001.
