VFR Top Speeds

Up early this morning anxious to go. Bike is clean, tires are normal pressure 36-37, fresh synth oil, chain oiler working, all set. Onto to the highway, warming up the bike. A little cool at 43 F. or so. Onto the highway, accelerating thru the gears, helmet locked down, practice tuck. Get to the smooth part of the highway, and begin 1st assault. 145 mph feels good, tuck in behind ZGravityEuro (works for me), back off. Sit up and feel the wind at 140 mph, niicce. A little more traffic than I would like for the run. There are a few cars in the right lane and could change without much notice and they wouldn't pay attention to two little beams that can come up REAL fast.. Shift to 5th, wind it up to 11.5 rmp and power shift to 6th and tuck in. Head on tank, eyes forward it pulls right to 10.8k, 155 mph or so. Very smooth, feels a little light because of the light wind, not too scary though. Car ahead and I peak over the screen and speed drops 10 mph. Pass him, tuck in back to 155 then inching up to around 160 mph. Sitting here all tucked in perfectly quiet, smooth at 2.5 miles per minute. What is normally a fairly straight road is now requiring me to lean to the left and the speed drops to 90 or mph, kewl. Back off, check the bike. Temp good, nothing loose, no smoke, last chance. Into 5th at 125, revs up to 11.5k into 6th, here we go. Holding it for over a mile at 160 mph, no faster. Maybe I should have left the snorkel off, or extra wax on the bike. Oh well, great fun, a little (?) dangerous, and a bonus! Got to work about 7 minutes earlier.
