The reason why I want the surging problem fixed before I change the spark plugs is because I don't want to "hide a problem" with better spark...
Thanks for answering. I've had my VFR for many years and it has been running fine - till now. Agree, one plug cap is faulty. Will replace it ASAP....
Hello and greetings from Norway (please forgive me if my writing is not perfect). My 99 VFR started surging a bit when the engine is warm, when...
Could it be something wrong with your key lock mechanism. Disconnected the wire from the key lock (if possible) and pull the wire.
mm means cm? Thanks both of you, RhINO and Y2Kviffer :)
Thanks Rhino :) Tomorrow I will check if these measurements could be correct. Tack så mycket :)
Then I agree :) Max battery voltage on a fully charged lead-acid battery is normally 12,78V @ 20' Celsius, with acid density 1,30
No one who still has this label attached?
I know, but with OEM wiring I guess you would never measure 14.5V. Maybe out of R/R, but not @battery. http://www.zefox.net/~bob/mc/vfr/vfrfix.html
Excellent :)
Not with the OEM wiring, then it is 14,0 - 14,2V with lights off! Anyway, 14,5V (boost charge) over a period might kill your battery ;)
MOS-FET is the best, anyway, mine has been great for several years, SH6890A. And as thtanner says, check your stator. Also take a look at the...
At my VFR, about 14V at idle with lights off, 13,8V @ 3500 rpm with lights on. Read here, http://www.zefox.net/~bob/mc/vfr/vfrfix.html
5th gen 98-99 is not chipped, but 00-01 is chipped (HISS). This is in Europe, could be different in US.

Hello. As many others, I have dropped my chain wear indicator label, somewhere along the road ;) Can anyone please tell me the exact distance (in...
Two oil changes later. I have tried Rotella T6, no luck, same clunk as when using Motul 300V 10W-40. Then I tried Motul 5100 10W-40 and the gear...
Put on my new EMGO mirrors and black CNC brake and clutch lever. [IMG]
It's normal that the voltage rises slightly around idle speed, 0.2 - 0.3V. Did so on mine 5.th gen with old r/r, also does so with new r/r ;)
The chain is good, driven only 3000 km/2000 miles. An if it was the chain, then there would be the same sound in the other gears, at least 5th...
