Point one; you should not be trying to ride 1,300 miles in a day. There are endurance riders who do it, but none of them STARTED OUT by doing it....

Yes, a relay is the go.... Mine are wired direct, but the manual on them says that they will turn themselves off if the voltage drops below 11...
