I'll probably keep mine for at least 4 more years but I started getting the itch for a naked bike. I really like the speed triple, super duke, and FZ1. I got one kid starting college and one three years behind him so it will be a while before I even think about it seriously.

Interesting question. I have never kept a bike for longer than two years. Reason being I was riding so much that I was ready for something new. Now that I don't commute anymore due to a 4 mile drive to work, that might change. I just had the one year anniversary with my '03 VFR so according to my schedule I have another year to go. Even though I love the VFR and don't ride nearly as much as before...my eyes still wonder to showroom floors and classified ads.

Life is a buffet, try everything once

I brought a 2007 only because the price was right. I still have my 99 and are not making any plans to get rid of it. It still runs great and still enjoy riding it whenever I can. Tony

    My first bike : Benelli 250 2c (1972), I still have it, then Benelli 654 sport (1986), I stiil have. They are running : 250 2c : 200.000 km, 654 sport : 250.000 km !
My VFR 750 (1987) : 161.000 km and I use it every day to go to work.
The problem is not how long I can have them....but how long they will have me ! Until what age one can ride a bike ? I mean safely....

My last “forever” ride was a fairly comfortable ’04 Shadow Spirit with a Mustang seat. My wife developed Fribromyalgia and as a result riding for her became quite uncomfortable.

I loved that bike but I developed a lust for the VFR after a ride through the Catskills and a chance meeting with a guy riding an asphalt black. Knowing my wife couldn’t ride anymore and was not a keen rider to begin with started me on my quest for a Veefer. Found a new ’06 at the same dealer I bought the Shadow from and the rest is history.

I was quite prepared to put up with some discomfort riding as I expected that the VFR would not be as comfortable a ride as the cruiser but I was very happy to quickly learn that the VFR was more comfortable than the Spirit! No shoulder cramp and no tail bone pain. Even a couple of hours in the stock seat is not a problem!

Needless to say I’m loving it and fully plan to keep throwing a leg over her saddle for another, like you, 10-15.

If you see a 75 year old riding a pearl white ’06 VFR in 2023, that’ll be me.:biggrin:

Hey Carmine: Truth is, if well cared for, and obviously all your's are, they will probably still be around entertaining somebody long after you're gone!

I got my bike in 06, and I will probably have it till I can't enjoy riding...like that's every going to happen. I will probably get a bigger bike someday for long road trips with the wife, but I won't sell my 2000 VFR.
My cage is a Dodge Durango and it keeps a spot on my driveway covered while my bike gets the garage all to itself.

I got mine two years ago used for $4500 with a full race exhaust. It's paid off, running fine, fairly cheap to keep on the road (except tires) and it's a Honda. There are many bikes I would love to try out, but can't afford them and don't want the payments or higher insurance rates.

    Also, I'm a teacher - nuff said.

This is an excellent point and one that I ponder all the time. I thoughts are there is no shame riding a trike if that's what it comes to
