well most of you know i was having a vavle problem or something (ticking noises) well i continued to ride it briefly keeping it to a MINIMUM. i rode to work today and everything was fine. as i was on my way home i heard a loud pop followed with a sound resembling metal in a can being shook. the oil light came on and the bike shook violently as i just pulled over and shut it off. she will not start. it turns over but will not start. any ideas on what i might have done or what happened to the motor? i am assuming it is dead for good w/o a rebuild and honestly i am not prepared to do that because i am planning on purchasing a new VFR800 so my plans on this bike is to part it out and sell it......

it is a 1985 VF500F with an immaculate body, fairings and frame etc... if anyone is interested in parts or even the bike let me know... you can message me here or at JClift1@ivytech.edu

Rattling of loose pieces, in my limited experience, is a bad sound.
If it had a timing belt, I'd say that is what cut loose, and yes, she sleeps with the fishes.
    The old moto dirt nap.
Sad, but since you were gonna upgrade anyway...

+1 for parting it out, if, as you say, it's in otherwise excellent shape. You might actually make some decent money on the deal.

Hope you get another ride soon. Good luck.
