I just purchased a new 2004 VFR that was a holdback. I've read all the exhaust threads and have narrowed my choice of exhaust to Micron or Staintune. I like the Micron sound at idle and the Staintune sound when it gets wound out.....or as much as I can tell from the clips on the internet. I'm looking for a good medium pitched sound that is really noticeable when you start to wind it up. Any and all comments and especially sound clips would be appreciated. I'm sure a lot of you guys have tried both and can help me out tremendously. Micron or Staintune?

I've heard both and they each sound nice. Sound clips are just about worthless they sound a lot different in person. I think you'd be happy with the sound of either one. Not sure what the price is on the micron but I assume it's cheaper. Staintunes have excellent fit and finish and never need repacked. They seem to be the exhaust of choice for 02-06 vfrs and for good reason.

I'm looking for a pretty good and loud "shriek" when at high revs. Do you remember which was the best for this RC51 Rider?

hi i have got scorpions on mine.

they give a nice deep note on idle then a nice howl when you give it some.

they let people know you are coming.

Looked at dyno graphs the other day, doinbikes.com.au Staintune looses 3 - 4ft-lbs torque @ 4 & 5 thou rpm, catches up by 6, however if you add pc2 it looses nothing at low revs and gains 3 - 4 ft-lbs from 6 - 7 thou rpm. This would smooth out the v-tec kick as the standard torque curve goes into decline from 6 to 6 1/2 thou then rises rapidly @ 6800. On this site several exhaust notes are on offer, check it out.

bought a staintune for mine. It's the same model as yours. Very happy with it.
Can take the baffles out, with an alen key, and it just sounds great. they look pretty mean too.

How much are you guys paying for the Staintune setup?? I find it a hard pill to swallow at 7-$800 dollars for minimal performance gains, and just the sound... Most of the online retailers are at least $800 from what i have found.... Ugh.....
