Went for my first long ride on my new (to me) VFR today. It was only 158 KM (mostly super slab), but it was enough for me after a full hip replacement 6 months ago. It has been a year and a half since I’ve ridden. I’m not only getting use to the bike but also my new bionics. I had to figure out the easiest and most comfortable way to adjust my legs when stopping and starting. I can’t wait to get back to near normal. I recently saw on the program “Superbikes” a dude with 2 artificial legs doing bike stunts. I guess I had better stop crying like a little girl. However the VFR is a joy to ride. I just love it. Just had the 25k major service done along with the wiring recall work. So I guess it is now up to me to rack up the kilometers on this babe.
Anyone out there riding with a disability?

Yup. I am missing my mind  Does that count?

May be looking a knee replacement in a few years. But putting that off as long as I can. Lots of back and joint issues here but the pleasure of galloping away on this fine steed far outweighs the discomfort I get from time to time.

No but if I did, I would be doing whatever i could to figure out a way to ride for sure. Good luck with getting used to riding again. It is definitely worth it!

    glucosamine & chondroitin supplements

Glucosamine & chondroitin sulfate are among the most basic molecular building blocks of cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and other connective tissues.

For some now it has become increasingly apparent that daily oral supplements containing these two ingredients appear to often be quite helpful in promoting the improvement of a wide variety of musculoskeletal and connective tissue injuries and disorders, including joint trauma; joint replacement surgery; surgical repairs of torn ligaments; degenerative joint diseases such as osteoarthritis, etc.

Indeed, many mainstream orthopedic surgeons, rheumatologists, and physical/sports medicine physicians have been increasingly recommending this oral supplement to their patients, often with quite remarkable results.

Yes indeed they are. My neurosurgeon suggested I take the same after my last back surgery. He did say though that it may not work and unfortunately, in my case, it did not. But I am none the worse for wear having given it a damned good try.

There are some things you just have to live with, sometimes that is pain. I am on T4's now. That does not always work either. The doc suggested morphine but I said no to that as I cannot work taking that stuff. Have had demoral. Nice stuff that is. Didn't want to work taking that !
