How many miles could I expect to get out of a Gen 5 VFR?

    Under what circumstances?

The bike is as near bulletproof as any modern bike has ever been. With proper maintenance and care they have been known to run 400,000 miles.
Obviously they have some weak spots such as the reg/rec and the exhaust collector, but these are easily remedied. Many, many VFR's here in the UK with our inclement weather are in the 50-90,000 mile range.

I agree with Rogue. As long as you perform regular and proper maintenance, you should get many miles out of your VFR. A case in point, at 53,000 miles I took mine in for service (valves, carbs) and the mech said the valves were way out of spec. Keep in mind my bike ran great, IMO. He also said it looked like the valve covers had never been off teh bike. hmmmm 52K and no valve work and still ran strong. A testament to bullet-proofness in some respect, not that I would ever have let it go that far without the work. But then I was not the original owner either.
