What the big difference besides cosmetics? I'm trying to decide on replacing my exhaust with a high side or a low side. I like both looks, but I'm more concerned about my wife when she rides with me. How hot does the high side exhaust get? Does the passenger feel the heat any more or less than the low side? Are there any dangers getting on the bike that has a high side exhaust? Do I have to change and brackets or drill hole in the fairs for the high side to work. How does it affect the handling of the bike?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

High side you might be able to mount side bags as well. If you get a high mount get a Carbon Fiber pipe as the tend to stay cooler. Most all new kits come with brackets and retain your rear pegs. No difference in handling ....

As you know, they have done that on racebikes for years for cornering clearance....., but for the street looks are the main reason they it. I don't notice anymore heat for me or the passenger on my two brothers carbon. Don't know of any dangers...maybe less so because the exhaust is more out of the way. You might have to cut a small notch out of your rear side panel to gain clearance to a mounting point, IF, the pipe does not mount on the peg. Mine mounts to a bolt on the rear subframe. No handling difference.

Probably more 98% looks with the high mount. low mount is what it is, No gains handling wise other than they are way lighter. On the Race RC30-45 the exhaust was on the other side as to be out of the way for a wheel-tire swap. Not sure about the heat, passenger wise it's out of harms way. Mine doesn't really get all that Hot, have had a bag up against it with no ill effects. All thou it was there by incident and I was moving so it wasn't there long.

I never considered the saddle bags. I do plan on getting some universal soft ones. I'll make sure there is enough clerance if I go high-side. Thanks for the advice.

I have the high mount Hindle and love it. There are no differences in performance from a lower mount pipe to a high pipe. I did do a 5,500 Km ride last season and my soft side saddle bags did hit the high pipe. I just went and bought an new dohnut gasket for the original pipe and did my tour with the stock pipe. Got back and threw the Hindle hi pipe back on. I agree with the fellow above, the high pipe looks way better. Good luck with your purchase, you will absolutely love the new sound.

And, no issues at all with passengers legs etc. with the high pipe.
