Well it is Spring and you should be riding, but instead you are hear reading a forum about riding. In the spirit of love and poetry I propose the following challenge to you the V-4 powered poets of VFRworld.

Post prose provided it is an original work in the form of a limerick <-( link to what a limerick is). Keep content confined to cycle concepts for contest credits. use of the word "Nantucket" will provide a small bonus multiplier, but its use is not encouraged by the contest sponsor.

I, nozzle, (note the artistic e.e. cummings style lowercase signature I have adopted for this contest) will be the sole judge and contest committee.

    Here's an example:

    Interceptors are powered by V4s.
It makes sounds unlike inline fours
    Mine's red, white, and blue,
    still looks like its new
with two wheels, one swing arm, but no doors.

Enter early, enter often. I'll judge stuff on Memorial Day weekend, my VFR's first anniversary.

Nice one nozzle, something I've never seen on a VFR Forum.

    Heres my first attempt.

Their once was a Honda from Kent,
whose engine had an unusual bent,
being a v4 and heaven sent,
you should see how blinding fast that VFR went. :bolt:

    Good try.
Limericks are typically five lines, vice four such as:
    :blah: ...Nantucket
    :blah: ...suck it.
    :blah: ...grin
    :blah: ...chin
    :blah: ...bucket.

first, second, & fifth lines ryhme, third and fourth ryhme with a different sound. follow the underlined link in my first post to see some more background on wikipedia.

even with four lines, John, you are in the lead. congrats :thumb:

Veefers of every generation are a blast
From Gen 1 through 6 they are ever so fast
Every model is really high tech
Especially those Gens that go VTEC
It’s a bike that will never be surpassed!

    The "Nantucket" challenge;

A VTEC that came from Nantucket,
    Had a valvetrain with shim-under-bucket.
    The cams come out twice
    Be grateful not thrice,
If it gets any worse I will Duc it…

    And one more;

The V4 is a marvelous thing
It can whisper or stand up and sing.
    When wrapped in good chassis
    And bodywork classy
It is destined to one day be King.

Three from Vermont (hey - I'm bored...)

    Honda imports motorcycles from Japan.
Models for every child, woman, and man.
    Crotch rockets for Squids,
    Little 50’s for kids.
But the great VFR best fits our plan!

The VFR is my favorite bike.
    There’s nothing you could dislike.
The engine’s bark makes you tingle,
    It’s swing arm is single.
If you disagree with me, go take a hike!

What will the future of the VFR bring?
Will that sweet V-4 still sing?
    Throughout the site of VFRWorld,
Rumors of the 7G have swirled –
For sure - a VFR 1000 would be king.

Wow, that last one almost looks plagiarized. Honest, I'm no cheater!!!

I once had a bike I called "Harley"
That many thought sounded so gnarly,
    But then I got "Viffer"
    And he is much quicker,
The trade I did not have to parley.

    Sorry, no Nantucket in mine.

Im not sure if this meats the limerick theme or not but i worked pretty hard on it for my wife.

A true story from a man to his wife!

A bright shiny day alike any other, however, unlike any other, this day two hearts will find each other.
For on a walk this day we promise to love one another, on a walk this day we promise to in twine with each other.
With an unknown plan of the future, I plan mo more than my next step.
But assuredly as I take each step, I know I walk this path, with no regret.
For war and peace we must make every last stand, though true as I walk this known path, against love of a woman, time has proved no man can stand.
I bare nothing in hand, a love in my heart is all, for this love I have found, as they say, is once and for all.
So I do fall, with one knee to the ground.
A shatter breaks a fragment falls apart, the crush of a no, it cascades in my heart.
I will not give up, I will not despair.
I will trust in my unknown plan, because I know that a love like this, it truly is rare.
We walk a little further, going hand in hand.
Suddenly we are torn asunder, as dawn cracks the day we are disjoined, by my knee hitting the ground, yes once more.
The same question I ask, a different answer I hope.
Can it be, can it be, alas, she says no.
Love is strong, some say fate is stronger.
For the love I have for her, I will not say no longer.
The path of least resistance , I say does not exist, but this path I must, I will, endure.
We walk a little further, going hand in hand.
Down again I go, with only one knee in the air, knowing the gift she expects me to bare.
I search and I seek, for a gift that will make her mine, under a tree not so rare, is a gift I find.
A new leaf I find and roll in despair, a symbol of love on her finger, a symbol of lovel, not so fair.
Now on this bright day, on this my last stand, I pull back the leaf from her enchanting hand.
Alas a small glimmer of hope, a small sparkle and twinkle through daylight broke.
All can see clear, appearing at hand a plan made right now, now becomes clear.
It is a ring, so beautiful and so right, it will now be on her hand both this day, and every night.
On that sweetest day I proposed my love my life and my heart, now again on this Valentines Day I propose myself,
in which, my love, you truly are the most important part.
I thank God she said yes.

There once was a rider named seed
who asked how to wheelie his stead.
    his limerick's too long
    to fit in a song.
sir, five lines are all that we need.

    ----
The mod from SD's name is Jason
His post for this thread he must hasten
or when the cop lights turn blue
    His ride will be through
and prison hotties he soon will be chasen

    ---
    Michael's not been to Nantucket
His bike, no he never would truck it.
    He keeps this board up
    yet rarely posts up
he fears that, like Stuke, he might muck it?

Gwolever... you are just missing some bonus points. Try adding some emoticons to bring your point total up on the nozzleator scoring system. :thumb:

Reg71... are you trying to help me by numbering the lines, or was that for you?

We have a member who's Uber
    At rhyming he's quite suber
    Replace the 'b' with a 'p'
    And then you will see
That Noz's limmericks are actually pretty good...

There once was a rider on a viffer
His Swingarm could not be any stiffer
On the Forum he could be quite cruel
His handle I think was Drewl
But the girls planted wet ones on his kisser

(No offense Drewl, you are always nice...you just were a handy rhyme!)

    This rider named Nung
By a bee he got stung
    Almost wiped out
    But have no doubt
His helmet would have saved him from having his bell rung

    His rhymes were as lightning
    To some it was fright'ning
    That came from a song
    That was popular so long
Ago, but I can quite seem to come up with anything else to end this poem with that will make it rhyme or fit into the scheme.

Seeing two men out riding united,
Is not something that gets me excited.
So we write some Man Laws,
    And get some guffaws,
But to Sturgis we don't get invited!

Sorry about the crossover into the Man Law thread, but it is just too easy!

Two men out alone on two wheels,
had desires for each other's eels.
When they pulled off the road,
    To share each other's load,
The bushes heard nothing but squeals!

    Yes I have seen
