After I click it on, there is a delay before it starts flashing, and on occasion the pause between flashes will be irregular. Eg. Click…………flash..flash..flash…….flash.flash..flash and so on.
The left turn seems to be less of a problem than the right turn, where it works fine most of the time. The right turn sometimes requires me to be forceful or take several attempts, or for me to hold the switch on before it starts flashing. I'm gonna pull the indicator box apart this weekend but was hoping someone would be able to point me in a direction. The bottom line is, the circuit is working, just strangely.

Check the contacts in the light bulb, socket sounds like what my truck did and found out it had a lose and not so tight of a socket, plus if moisture was able to get in you'd have some corrosion of sorts which makes a not so great a connection.

Yes first check to make sure that your bulbs all look good and the there is no crap on the bulb contacts. If it checks out then go to the switch housing and open it. it maybe that your contact grease inside is dry and may not be making good contact. if that not it than go to your relay and run a jump wire after you take off the relay. I would use a paper clip or something of that nature. good luck I just had that problem on my 02 turns out it was a bad relay.

Give the switch (in the gap between the toggle and body) a good spray with WD40 (or similar). That cured a similar problem with mine. That was only slow to flashing, and it was on one side only.

    I'm bettin' on the switch.
I'd spray it down with contact cleaner, then a good dose of WD-40, then work it back and forth a couple hundred times.

If cleaning the switch does not work, the turn signal relay is bad. Replace with thermal universal one or even go to an electronic relay. Then you can add LED turn signals later and it won't cause any issues. The only drawback is that you won't get the "fast-flash" if one of your turn signals goes out.

So heres what I've found out so far:
This indicator problem seems to effect the right turn signal far more than the left signal. The left signal works almost 100% perfectly. The right signal is very delayed, after I click the button, it can take anywhere from 1-5 seconds before the indicators start flashing.

Now heres the interesting bit: The time delay seems to be related to outside air, and/or bike temperature. Cold mornings effect it the most, mid arvo, the indicator works almost perfectly.

I've cracked open the indicator/switch box, played with the switch a few times and everything seems to be mechanically sound, also looks quite greasy in there. When I flick the button, I can hear the ticking sound (relay???) behind the instruments panel even while the indicator isn't lighing up.

Do the left and right indicators work off separate relays? Where are the relay(s) located and is there a way to inspect/repair them for the autoelectic uninitiated?

Sweet. So contact cleaner and WD-40 on both the bulb contacts as well as inside the box?

Didn't touch the bulbs, just the switch, but doing them all won't hurt.
To do the switch, I just stuck the plastic tube on the spray can into each side of the 'lever', gave it a good squirt, and then opperated it quite a few times.
Good luck with it. Its a real pain if you don't know when the indicators are going to start.
