I am looking for a pair of waterproof boots to wear with armoured textile pants. My job has me visiting homes so on and off multiple times a day and riding regardless of weather. Any suggestions as to brand? johnc
Not sure if they are waterproof, but I have been eying these: http://www.newenough.com/closeouts/boots/set_up/setup_vision_motorcycle_boots.html
When I am riding in town I wear a pair of Honda Meteor boots. Its' MSRP is $159. Those boots are made by Joe Rocket, and you can find them easily in eBay fairly cheap. Mine were bought from Carter Honda and I got 10% off because of being a motorcycle school graduate(Safety Council...).
Sidi Canyon Sympatex OR TCX Infinity Goretex When it comes to boots, just spend the money to get quality. You said you need to visit homes & such so both of these boots have real soles, not just a smooth piece of plastic with a coporate logo on them. My feet are too important to me to wear cheap/low quality boots. KC-10 FE out... lane: :usa2:
non moto--Bates, Hi tec, Rockies all make water, chemical proof, insulated, tuff soled, steel toed boots for fire/ems/police that have super sturdy construction, good ankle support and so on. most run around $100.
There are no military boots made in the USofA better than Corcoran. http://www.corcoranandmatterhorn.com/ItemDisplay.asp?Style=1999&CategoryID=34 http://www.corcoranandmatterhorn.com/ItemLarge.asp?Style=1999 KC-10 FE out... lane: :usa2:
I needed a pair of boots that were good for the cycle and good to wear inside at work as well... I shopped everywhere! Trying to find a good quality black workboot was proving to be harder than it seemed... Redwing SHoes, Dexter, I went all over... I was coming home from a failed look at Tractor Supply for a workboot when I drove in front of our local Harley Davidson Dealer and apparel store in Nashua.. I walked in and they had a whopping selection of 12 different boots... Beleive it or not my second choice of boot eneded up being the most comfortable boot I have yet worn... I did some search and scowring of the internet and found them for a whopiing 5 doolars cheaper than what I paid... Shipping makes them more though... But they are a vey good comfy boot: http://www.shoebuy.com/harley-davidson-president/45234?cm_mmc=yps-_-none-_-none-_-none I work with a buuch of Harley Guys and Gals and they are convinced I'm converting over... LOL
You can try www.cyclegear.com and the have the Frank Thomas boot which is waterproof: You can also check the AlpineaStars Boot which is waterproof at www.cyclegear.com : I have the AlpineStartrs boot and love them. I plan on getting the Frank Thomas boot because it is comfortable look and a great price for a quality item.
I just hit my Sidi's with the Doc Marten waterproof wax... Instant water resistance. Close the air vents and my feet stay dry when I hit weather.
I forgot to mention the Red Wing boots. I have the Red Wing 969 boot which is water resistant and worn them in the rain and my feet stayed dry. Real confortable boot for all around wear.
Man I'm surprised you can shift with those thick boots. That was one reason I sold the Joe Rocket Big Bang Boots because it was difficult to shift with such a thick boot.
Love my Alpinestars SMX 4 Gortex which replaced my excellent old Alpinestars Vortex Gortex, 100% waterproof, all day comfortable on the bike no matter the temperature with the only downside to the SMX 4 is after a time they they have started to squeak a little when walking was thinking off trying clear dry grease like used in car doors hinges etc or something else any suggestions ? & you say the Sidi's & TCX's are ugly? What are these? Wanna be Harley boots? KC-10 FE out... lane: :usa2:
Thanks to all. I bought a pair of gortex Puma flats and have been very happy. I needed a sole I could feel the bike with and a shoe which was waterproof and very easy to get on/off, and even wear into different environments. It all worked out well. johnc
Hey folks, I haven't mastered the art of pasting pics in these replies. My boots are called Puma Flat 2. I haven't experienced much 'weather' yet but my Joe Rocket/Honda armoured textile pants will come down far enough to ensure a dry/covered boot top. The 'feel' of the boot is good for walking about and also for sensing my shifting and breaking. The left boot has a rubber dorsal insert for shifting stability. Medial and lateral heel reinforcement is supportive and protective. They are very easy to put on/take off which I have to do a number of times throughout the day. Being gortex, they are expensive but I hold onto things for a long while. johnc
