I'm a rookie

Hi, I joined the VFRWorld several minutes ago. I live in Vancouver, BC and I
have been riding on a 2007 VFR Tri-colour version since May 2007. Before the
VFR I rode a 1993 Yamaha FJ1200 with ABS brakes for 14 years. I am not
a skilled rider and I am very sure that I am probably the slowest rider for a VFR.
I wanted a something not very heavy after I had ridden a 280k bike for 14 years,
however,when I saw a VFR I could not resist not buying the bike. I am almost 62,
but I am hoping I can ride on a motorcycle till 80 years old.anda:

 

Welcome to the site! Maybe sometime we can dual to see who is the slower rider... until I am more skilled I'd probably win :smile:

I am a little scared of curvy so I think heading south might be easier to

I am trying to put myself on the member map, however, I am having problems.
I haven't figured out what I have to put in "Link to your location".
"Link to your location" has three choices. The first one is "Using BB Code, the
second is "Using HTML" and the last "Using normal URC" Could someone give
me some advice on this?

 

Yes I saw that last night. Think you were on the map somewhere in California. I can't remember how I did mine so I will have to dig around and get back to you unless one of the Mods get to you first

Try this.

Go to "My Settings". then to "control Panel". then to "edit Profile". then to "Additional Information". See if you can change it there.

I think something is wrong with th member map. I am now located at somewhere offshore of Vancouver Island. When I enlarge the map my marker gradually moves to my correct location. The latitude & longitude shown are not for my place. I guess those figures belong to my offshore address, that is almost a half way to Hawaii. If I do a member search on the map, I do not get any marker, however, when the map is fully enlarged the centre of the map is at my house.

Don't worry about Stuke. Sometimes he can be a crusty old fart and he is not even old yet. But yeah, sometimes my wife looks over my shoulder too. Art is all in the eyes of the beholder but when the forum is wide open like this, we have to exercise a little caution.

I figured out that if I wait for long enough (two and a half minutes) I will eventually get a marker on my house. I am listed at the last of 631 map-members.

 

Hi Shikyo. I have an Aunt that lives in Victoria, it seems like a great place to ride. Congrats on the new VFR

 

You won't like riding in Victoria. Too many second gen seniors and tourists. The outlying areas might not be bad. Even the Island Highway is far to congested. I lived on the Island for 11 years. Beautiful place but traffic, traffic,traffic. Besides, Shikyo lives in Vancouver. His marked swam the straight. LOL
