Called Jevco to get a price check for comprhensive insurance.
They asked me the bike as was ussual she said i was lucky, when asked why she said they do not insure vfr 750's or vfr 700's. Upon asking more about the only "sport bike" they do insure is the vfr....

how awsome for me because it's cheep....but still found it odd.

A lot of insurance companies won't insure sport-bikes, & the early VF's were sport bikes, the VFR's in most insurance co's are in a different catagory of Sport Tourers & are considered less of a risk.

The early VF's were the sport bikes, the Sabre was considered the sport tourer, & of course the Magna was the cruiser model.

My 85 VF750 (Canada model) is a tad more expensive than my 85 Sabre 750 (also Canada model) for the sport bike / sport Tourer reasoning  .

Just for kicks , I priced the insurance on an 07 Honda CBR1000RR a couple of months back. Keep in mind: I'm 28, a homeowner, eligible for a military discount, and I have a completely clean driving record. How did much did Progressive quote me?

$4600 for one year! Granted, the 06 was much cheaper than that, but still!

The agent told me and I quote, "Sir...statistically speaking, you WILL total this bike." :crutch: I don't know how true that is (the stats part), but I found it kind of funny (in an expensive and shocking kind of way).

So, if prices can get this high, I'd guess at a certain point insurance companies just start saying no. Just a thought...

there are to ways of saying no..saying no and making it expensive.

Also from a link given to me on the squid post been looking at the stats and ya....you will crash the cbr1000rr in 4 years writing it off statistically.
