Finally getting close to having my 600 mile break in complete. I changed the oil at 200 and plan on changing again at 600 and will switch to synthetic. I have tried to stick to proper break in (or at least what i think is proper). I have been varying my RPMs as much as possible and all the usual stuff. Up until this morning on my way to work, I had not taken the RPMs up above the 6500 mark to get the VTEC to kick in. I had taken it pretty close but backed off. I got to thinking though last night that in order to break the motor in completely, I am guessing that i need to get the RPMs up there and get it to kick in. With having 500 miles on it, it should be somewhat broken in already and should be ready to be run in this zone. I really didnt know what to expect, but by the time i got to work i couldnt get my helmet off because the smile was so big:biggrin: What an amazing sound and what a cool feeling. Doesnt feel like a turbo exactly, but what a swift kick in the pants. I didnt know if i would be able to actually feel it engage. No doubt about it, you can really feel it and you can hear it just as much. Now Ive got myself wondering what it will sound like with after, arket exhaust and get rid of the stock cans:eek:

Not sure if you will be pleased or not but the VTec engagment will get smoother with miles, by 10K miles it should be fully broken in.

A VFR's V4 sounds brilliant with any aftermarket can but Staintunes or Lasers are my favourite's.

Who has that kind of self-control to ride for 600 miles and keep the revs below 6500? I know I sure didn't.
I doubt an easy break-in mades a positive difference on how well the bike performs over its lifetime.

    Smoothing out the V-Tec transition?
For those of lesser stature, I recommend biscuits and gravy. At 225lbs, I find the switch to be rather gentle.

I think I hit the Vtec pulling out of the dealer parking lot! I did keep it below 8k until 600 miles and then the thing has been at redline ever since.

Please, please, please never get rid of the vtec feeling....
So many bikers like to have a turbo on their bike and the vtec gives the same feeling.

I love the feel and kick when the VTEC starts working. My VFR sound way louder(I had the baffles removed from the mufflers, and have a BMC filter), Just love it!

I love the rush of acceleration that the VTEC transition provides. Forget the practical reasons why VTEC is a brilliant idea, nothing beats that kick in the powerband and soundtrack!

Try pulling the snorkel off the airbox and disconnecting the vac controled flap that closes the other half of the box intake. You won't beleve the growl she makes then!

Ok I'm confused I thought "disconnecting the vac controlled flap that closes the other half of the box intake" was the pair valve mod. After I did vac control line removal. It was smother because I wasn't loosing as much power right before it engaged. It still pulls like crazy after it kicks in I just don't have the 500 rpms of power loose like I did before. IMO smoother is faster.
