Ok, this is a picture (from my cell phone) of a guy's gsxr 750 rear tire taken outside of work. He is an s/w engineer. I saw him riding around for the past 3 weeks with over 1.5 feet of cord showing in the middle. Another guy who rides told him this, and his response "I think I still have some good life left in it."

Anyways, I was walking outside a short bit ago, and upon first glance the tire looked new, almost brand new....I was thinking "good, he replaced it" however, I was wrong. The tire (or tyre if Taz is reading this ) was rotated so I could not take a picture of the cord showing. Upon further inspection, his tire is about 80+% new on the outside edges....he still even has nipples showing! Maybe if he just rides with a slight lean he can get a few thousand more out of it...

If you look at the far bottom of the tire you can see more cord is getting ready to show. Nothing like getting your money's worth!

Wow thought mine where bad.... i also tend to wear out the middle as i need to ride 1h to the twisties and i often ride 3h to and from calgary to see parents on a straight road and ride to work....but still...

for replacment tires advise him to get touring tires....not sport.

Maybe he keeps the chain un-lubed so it can be used as a tourniquet in the near future...

Burnouts wouldn't cause that kind of wear, would it?

Ah, but those smokey burn-outs with the front against a wall make for tire fire fun. If he's a software guy, he'll have the coin to get a new one, and it will likely be wider than the stock.

His friends all enjoy watching him burn his tire and encourage him to do so.

Sad thing is, he's likely too lazy to replace the tire before it blows during his high speed run up the 5 to park next to some "twisties", (this is posing at the local Dairy Queen - the Twisties are all the soft ice cream cones with the loop on the top.)

yes, I have profiled the rider as a squid based on his tire profile, so it would seem a legal profiling consideration ;-)

Ahhhhhh...trust me, this is not from a burnout. I heard his clutch slipping technique the other day and it was not pretty! The wear is just from straight up riding, which is fine, I mean, my center wears out before my sides, but not when the sides are brand new.

My main concern for posting the pic was to show the amount of cord showing thru, and the fact that he will not replace his tire even though he knows it is worn down enough to be dangerous. However, as I mentioned, the tire is rotated so you cannot see the cords...maybe tomorrow I will try again??

    To be continued...

Wow.....tell him to check his tire pressure, I'm gonna guess they are a little over inflated.

What made it not pretty? And how does this relate to male-pattern baldness experienced by his rear tire?

They are winter stud tires, the metal helps get traction in the snow.
Maybe help him out by putting a tack under the tire so it is flat when he comes out of work, instead of on the freeway.

Who? What? Where? When? Why? How?

I was just getting at his riding skills seem to be lacking. I do not think he has the skill to do much more than riding down the road in a straight line from home to work. He was slipping the clutch excessively just getting up the driveway and around the parking lot. It reminded me of a newbie learning to use a clutch slipping the hell out of it.

Oh, and NO MORE SOUP FOR YOU, ONE YEAR!!! (Soup Nazi episode from Seinfeld) Just messin' PuC...

This is proof positive that just because you got brains doesn't mean you got common sense. ANYONE who willingly rides on that tire is a freaking idiot. That is all.

    KC-10 FE out...
