Hey Bud. For a young buck you have a sence of humour. Your time will come. Then you will wished the aging process would stop, or even slow. Favourite hair colouring....another thread

    1. Lagavullin - but can't touch the price, so Highland Park
    2. Talisker
    3. McCallan's

Best bourbon - far and away Woodford's

I am totally with TB on this one, despite the (archaic) requirement for officers to partake of scotch. Can't get into scotch despite my most valiant and soldierly efforts.

Crown Royal is by far my favorite, but on the plane home from
Ass-Bagistan, they had no Crown, so I went with Canadian Club...whoa....Yet another reason to dig Canada....along with Tim Horton's Crullers (just not in the same sitting) :)

How about Sean Connery or Ewan MacGregor or Liam Neeson?

Related, but likely a veiled hijack, I had a Jager-bomb for the first time last weekend. Depressant and Stimulant in the same convenient beverage... These require a designated pilot.

It's like the opposite of a single malt. red-bull with a shot glass of Jagermeister dropped in and consumed at once.

Just picked up a bottle of Highland Park 18. OOOOOh Nelly  But I don't think at that price it will be a mainstay in the cupboard even with the little of it I drink. But I do see one of those a year anyways. Even a sip of it neat was nice. Bring on that small splash of water and it was sweet as nectar.

What kind of whiskey is this? Bourbon, Scotch, Rye, Irish. 100 years old, must have been just fine. Bet the price was fine too. Any ideas of today's cost. This is one I may have to buy by the shot glass somewhere.

Oh, Sepp! You are right on! TALISKER is a great one. It is the only scotch from The Isle of Skye. It is full and smoky, a big scotch. If you like Rusty Nails (scotch and Drambuie), it is the perfect scotch 'cause Drambuie comes from the Isle of Skye also. A killer scotch but there are plenty of great ones. There are some good scotch websites that describe the various scotches better than I can. Just Google away!

I remember back in 1989 when I was transfering from one city to another, I spent the better part of an afternoon and part of an evening in a neighbourhood pub drinking rusty nails. I Googled for hours then. And this I think was before the Internet.:tsk:

Been a while like I said, they had 2 they sold, 25 year & 100 year.
My Dad I believe still takes a snoot of the 100 year old once in a while.
When I'm back in SoCal, I'll pull a bottle & write down the info & post it.

used to be readily available, but guess what, I'm in Utah now & that isn't something you would find here  .

I could be wrong (cough, cough) but, I think your bottle was 100 proof, not 100 years old...

Old Grand Dad - OGD history

Taz, if you are thirsty, you can mail order a bottle...OGD 114 Proof & some bourbon background/descriptions

funny, I'd never heard of cutting bourbon with ginger ale... being that I enjoy ginger ale I'll have to try that this weekend.

Well your right in a way

Talked to my Dad, & he said your right, but he bought 6 cases (Hey where Irish & love good whiskey  ) back in some time in the 90's from the now defunct Liquer Barn in Torrance, CA. from my discount I got (I worked for a trucking Co. that did Liquer Barns warehousing & dist.).

The reason he bought it is because he liked the flavor & that the bottles where dated pre 1900's.

So hence the 100 year old whiskey

He told me he has ordered it in a bar or 2 whithin recent years & although not as Old, still was a nice smooth sipping whiskey & enjoy's it much better than "ol #7 & many other high end scotch whiskey's.

He say's he has 5 bottles left that he only cracks out for special occasions, but in retrospect, if my Mom was still alive(These are my adoptive parents, my blood ones still live in Ireland), she loved a good shot once in a while & it would of all been gone a long time ago  .

Taz: That's a great story. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you had quite the stash. I applaud your appropriate use of significant digits in your answer. Prosit, - Paul
