Okay, decided on building up my VFR instaed of buying a new one, that said any leads or know of where I can get a set of Ohlins front forks I'm all ears I know they were made I saw a set back in the mid 90's so I know they are around, trick is where? Thanks
What you saw was probably a custom application from another honda model. I don't know of any year VFR that ohilins made front forks for there is just no market for it. Not to many VFR owners would be willing to hand over $2500 for a set of forks and very few are made into track bikes. Maybe you could use another honda model with custom triple trees. Best bet would be having stock forks rebuilt with ohlins springs.
I agree with you on that. Though back in 96 with my first VFR I was looking at suspension as in rear shocks and the like, and what do you know, came across a set of Ohlins forks for the 4g VFR, ha only thing was $4k was way outa my league for at that time. so this little bug of mine was thinking Hmm just maybe there's a sused set laying around somewher. Now that said more than likely I'd have better luck in Aus. or the Euro countries as there the VFR was a hotty,Now of course I could go the route in where I change out the whole triple clamp affair bringing in a version made for another bike, but thought this route would be simpliar. even though diffecult to locate one never knows if you don't go there Guess we'll see where this goes. Sure would be nice, Saw a gentlemans 5g with an Ohlins setup, Very nice though he did a complete wheels brakes and all the other goodies, Wish I could remember his user name, was on the VFRD site and belive he's in Canada and the Bike was white.
Wow 4k is pricey for any forks. I can get brand new ohlins on my RC for $2500. Europe might be the answer but sending out your forks to be redone is a low price alternative I believe ohlins still makes the rear shock. Wheels are difficult to find too I looked when I had my 98 and all I could find was a front wheel. I decided to go sportier and picked up an 05 RC51. Good luck on your search.
The VFR with the Ohlins front end is mine. You can find more pics and info. over at vfrdiscussion.com under my user name.
Okay Safe -T, thanks, thought your name sounded familiar, as always a post with out pics is usless. haha, all thou since migel booted my ass from VFRD I'm not in a postion to view those, again. It would be nice for you to bring those sexy photos of your VFR here to VFR World. I know others here would enjoy seeing those. Probably the the only VFR that's set up like this, Very Nice ....
