I HATE motorcycles. I hate the one I bought 2 years ago so much I had to buy a second bike to see if I would hate it as much

Actually I started with a Sears Moped back in the 60's. Traded it for a little Honda 90. There is no telling how many miles I put on those bikes in the years I owned them, but virtually every waking minute I could manage was spent on them. Had a bad wreck on the little Honda and swore them off for a long time. Actually I guess I swore off owning them since I did keep riding other people's bikes for years. The last one I rode was a Honda 350 in Hawaii about 1970 or so. Rented it for a few days and rode all over the big island of Hawaii.

My wife hates bikes so to keep her happy I stayed away from them. A couple of years ago I decided enough was enough and bought a V-Strom. I still have it and have added my VFR. 27,000 miles in less than 2 years, yeah I hate motorcycles

I don't hate any bikes, that live up to their advertising/reputation. I just hate being lied to by a bunch of mindless lemmings.

My 69 Honda S-90 was one tough, abused, little bike. A friend has one like it, and I laughed outloud at how small it is. I am about the same size as when I rode it, and it's funny to think of the things I did on that tiny, little bike.

Up until the 80s, I owned mostly dirtbikes, and trail riding is included in most of my fondest memories. I just got a 91 Suzuki RMX250 so I can relive some of that old magic!

And for you hard-core VFR owners; my 91 is rapidly becoming my favorite streetbike.

My first real bike was a MotoBeta XTR 100 as well. Cannot remember the year, but it was mid 60's. Sounds like yours had been upgraded, unless MotoBeta improved their bikes later on. Mine had lights, but was a pure dirt bike. Front forks were dismal and I bottomed them out more than once coming off jumps. My was as reliable as a Briggs and Stratton. Could be yours was ported given it had a tuned pipe on it. Only problem with 2-strokes is with performance finicky dispositions.

Favorite bike was my first and only new bike. 1973 Yamaha XS650. Wish I still had that one. Frame was a little rubbery, but a lot of bikes were back then. Faster than a 650 Brit bike but rock solid dependable. Vibes were nasty on a long ride. Hands and feet would tingle for hours after a long ride. I have two later models apart in the basement as a WIP street tracker project. Will get around to finishing it one of these days.

I don't just like motorcycles. They have been intertwined into my life for so long, I don't really know anything else. The people I've met and the experiences I have had because of motorcycling is something I would have never been lucky enough to enjoy, had it not been for them. Motorcycles have truly blessed my life.
