So, I'm sure there must be a few car guys out there. Have any of you seen the 09 Challenger? It may be one of the most beatiful cars in the last 20 yrs. It's too bad that they had to use the exising LX platform and couldn't make it a few pounds lighter.

& the RT package is currently only available with an automatic. BS...

Since Chrysler was recently purchased by a Chinese investment group, I'm not going near anything they make. I'm speculating Chrysler will be out of business within 2 years.

Sounds like you know something the rest of us should.
The 2 Chrysler products I've owned were total crap.

The R/T isn't even available yet. Your thinking about the SRT-8. The only reason it's only available in an auto is that Chrysler wanted to get it out as fast as possible. This ment using existing drivetrains. A manual transmition will be available shortly.

I still wont buy it since it's a Chrysler. They didn't offer the big honking powertrain at first because they are both stupid & cheap.

    The new Camaro?

While I do have to admit the new Camaro looks pretty good, it still doesn't match the Challenger. Recently Chrysler has done a lot to inprove quality (maybe wih the help of MB). I don't realy think that the quality of Chrysler is any worse than any other automaker. Even if it is, they now offer a lifetime powertrain warranty.

    KC,

It's hard to argue with your past experiences. I truly believe that QC has gone up for Chrysler (along with the rest of the big three) in the past few years. Only time will tell.

    Tru dat.

Funny thing is, my 2005 F150 is almost as bad as the 1997 Ram. The reason I hate the F150 more is the payment is higher. The failures on the F150 are numerous small & annoying. Nothing has been life threatening like a ball joint falling out but when you need to take a 3yo vehicle to the dealer for warranty work once every 2 weeks...

ah yes I forgot about the ball joints and the oil burning usually due to faulty lower intake gaskets...

I drive a Full size K5 Blazer ... trouble free and my 1976 Mazda Cosmo is a rock and never has trouble like these new cars do....and of course the VFR :)

They did offer the big powertain at first.......they figured they could produce about 6400 cars for 08 in an attempt to get it to market as fast as possible. With that being said, the produced the biggest powertraing with an auotomatic in an attempt to get interest up as fast as possible.

What! you have a Cosmo? as in 3 rotor? twin turbo? those rock.

    Back on subject

I'm very disappointed in the Chrysler team that had the design in mind. Sheesh! not even close, something along the same as how they brought the Charger back. Yea right. Not even close, missed by a mile. that's my rant. So close, man they have it right in front of em, how in the H can't they get it right?

Now that the Camaro is getting close to also being production ready, it now has my eye, and if that don't work, have my eye on a certain model NSX

Only company I ever worked for was engineering for Mercedes Benz. I wont lie, those cars are well put together, but hell, you pay for it. A BMW is a bit sportier but no-where near as safe. You haven't lived until you have taken an AMG SL65 up to 150mph on a banked track... squish into the seat!

For my money, I am loving the new Camaro. The charger looks cool, but no-one makes real muscle cars anymore. (sob)

To be honest, my next vehicle will probably be a modest pickup. I had a mid-90s F-150 last, it may have broken a lot, but the damn thing was so simple, I could fix just about anything myself... currently I drive an '06 Xterra which has yet to have a SINGLE problem in 40K miles. I like that.

I work at Ford, my F150, junk,17 service issues in 24 months, damn motor pooched at 23000Km due to thread bosses in the head being drilled too deep, the guy who designed the motor told me this face to face and I had to fight like hell with Ford to get a new mill. The dealer said all it needed was valve seals. Then they messed up my hood doing the repair and said" that's from acid rain". After a heated discussion there and being called a fussy prick by the service manager I said I was going to go trade it on a Chev Silverado, their answer "go ahead" . Best damn advise they ever gave out, 5 years now and it's still the best truck I ever owned. Suck on that Ken Knapp Ford!!!!!!!!!

    New Z06

Oops, forgot too mention, took my buddy's brand new Z06 out the other day, Scary Fast, handles like a slot car, and really good price right now, if you have a spare $80,000 kicking around I highly recommend it.

You can go even cheaper with a Mazda RX-7. There are still good used '93-'95 models. They're really fast and handle really well. A lot of car magazines give those rave reviews. Only downside is repairs can be on the pricey side because they use a rotary engine and not that many shops can work with them.

I was about to buy one but decided that my VFR is more exciting!

I had to travel recently and Usually I get econo boxes like Subarus or Mazdas... I was forced to take a Chrysler 300... Now I remember My Dad Givin me crap for looking at a used Nissan Maximas and he said "Son you should buy American and if ya don't buy German!"

SO when I saw a sticker for a 300 I said No frign way!

SO this year I am forced to rent one...It had a bigger motor than my Maxima and was 500lbs lighter..... It was the slowest peice of crap I have ever had the misfortune to drive.. Transmission was slipping and this thing only had 4000 miles on it.... Handled like apig and I'm thinking is'nt the Charger based on this Chasis?

When I was 12 my dad told me when I became of age or when he got tired of it, his 1979 Trans AM with a WS6 performance package and a 403 big block would be mine..... in 1985 he traded it in for a 1985 Dodge Ram 4x4 with a 318 and prospector package..................

When he got tired of it......... I got it parked in my back yard..... It's on it's 3rd motor........ That Burns oil like it's gasoline..... Panels are almost completely rusted off... Thanks Dad.........

Now OPEC sends me thank you cards cause I just traded in the Maxima for a GMC Yukon XL... My wife despises mini vans and we have 2 kids and an in-law to transport...

Wish I could find an old BMW 2002 for cheap money that needed no work.....
