I've been trolling this site for awhile now...thought I'd join if you'll have me. Just put my beloved red 91 VFR up for sale. I'm a proud owner of a new (albeit noncurrent) 07 red, white and blue! Had a bunch of ceptors over the years, the first being an 83, not to mention a slew of other bikes. Don't know if I should admit it...oh alright...I'm a longtime tech...22 years full time. I can tell there's already several very knowledgeable types on here already, but I hope I can contribute on occasion.
A professional cog noggin is always a welcome addition. Welcome to VFR World. Will you be charging consultation fees?
Thanks for the welcome. Norcal...freebies for you indefinitely. I do know quite a bit...but I've already learned a few things from reading this forum. I'm humbled.
Found it! Welcome to the forum! I thought you might be a professional technician, based on your commentary in other threads. Good to have you here!
Hey dizzy, welcome! It seems to be a winter here in MN that refuses to go away. But soon, I hope, we'll see you on the road!!
Yes...WELCOME! We can use your expertise. And that is cool that you have learned some things here already.
By all means...welcome. But the question just begs to be asked. Explain your handle. While you are at it, my shop wants to do my valves at 50,000KM (That's 32<000 miles in imperial bu that is another thread) I certainly am not techy so don't want to get taken for a ride. Seems to run fine to my ear. Is this reasonable? I posed the question earlier on another thread. Lots looked at it but no replies.
Thanx all. Randy from BC...think Hon recommends 16K (that's miles), I've only done one vtech, at 20K and it did not require shimming. Vtech does require more time to inspect though...good day to skip that second pot of coffee. On non vtech models that use a similar head...I'm a little surprised when I have to do any shimming at any milage. Guess I wouldn't rebuke you for running 'til 32K. I'd be interested in what some of the higher milage guys have done or found? As for the handle? Hopefully it's not descriptive (insert nervous laughter)...seriously, it's a play on my name.
Tkx Dizzy. I will watch this thread to see what others have to say. In the meantime, I will give them the go-ahead to look at them next service in about a week. Good thing I got my income tax cheque today. Think I will need it. BTW. Used to live just north of you in Winterpeg. BUT I ESCAPED !:bolt:
