well with riding season finally here where i live im looking for some boots. i looked at some past posts but wanted to know if there was something particular that most people liked . im looking for a boot just for riding. i don't go to the track or anything like that. i was looking @ the SIDI streeburners but i think that might be overkill for just everday riding( i know the price is for me at least $250) . i looked around the net but unsure what to look for. any suggestions?

I like my Sidi B2's. Not great for walking but they seem to have plenty of protection where it counts. I also have some Alpine Star Web Gortex that are the opposite; pretty comfortable for walking but not a lot of protection.

I bought a pair of Tourmaster Solution waterproof riding boots last summer and like them alot. They were reasonably priced (around $110) and really are waterproof. The only thing is they are not very stylish.....

Like you, I wanted a boot that's just for every day riding and I'm pretty happy with my TCX AirTech Touring boots. You can check them out at http://www.newenough.com/boots/wate...cx/air_tech_xcr_touring_motorcycle_boots.html

Even though it's designed for warm weather I've endured 30 degree weather just fine by wearing two pairs of socks.

I got a more complete review here at this thread: http://vfrworld.com/forums/apparel-reviews/13363-tcx-airtech-touring-boots.html

They're comfortable enough so that I could walk around on them. At work we have casual fridays and I just keep the boots on at work. It's like wearing a really high top pair of tennis shoes.

I like my alpinestars SMX4 pretty well and they weren't expensive. I can walk in them just fine but they are good enough if I ever do get around to a track day...

I also have the SMX Plus boots, similar to the SMX4. They are like the boot above except in white. hehehe. I agree with reg in that they are confrtable enough to walk around in throught the day as well as they will provide protection on the track.

I have some joe rocket speedmaster boots. Great for riding, not great for walking. However they are about 4-5 years old, they might have fixed the walking bit.

Went with the Alpinstar Edge low rise for $110. They're really comfy and I don't have any issue walking in them.

I like mine alot too, have the GoreTex Version and confirm them 100% waterproof over long distance in heavy rain, only negative is the hard plastics squeak a bit after a time.

What are the major differences between the SMX Plus & SMX4? They realy don't say on the Alpinestars website.

I've got the Joe Rocket Dry Tech boots. I see they are not available anymore. They are my first so I have nothing to campare them with. After an hour of freeway driving in driving rain, I do start to feel a bit of wet in the toes but what the hell. They are comfortable all around, walking and all. My only mistake is that I should have probably gotten a size larger to put on a heavier sock in the winter. My feet do get just a bit cold but I ride in temperatures that surround the freezing mark.

I will watch this thread. My left sole is starting to wear a bit thin and I am told that re-soling simply does not hold. Too bad cause I really like the boot. Anyone got any comments on that.

I am kinda weary about a shoe type boot though. Seems to me that it lacks a bit in the shin protection area.

I've tried a few other brands but once I went with Sidi I've never looked back. They're expensive, but in my experience last much longer than other brands, especially their dirt bike boots. I wear the B2s for street riding.

Anyone wear Alpinestars & Sidi back to back? I like my Sidi Canyon's but they are more of a touring boot. I'm looking for a track type boot.

I'm leaning toward the Sidi B2 or Alpinestars SMX Plus. I will admit that I've never worn AS boots, I just wanting to play the field.

Just a little food for thought. Dainese has a very comfortable all around boot/shoe. I like mine just great:cool: "Scarpa Bogota" about 180.

I have these Sidi. Not too good for walking but they are good for riding.
