Absolutely no reason to downsize Seattle - I've upsized on my '92 as well. My shop has said hands down the larger/wider footprint is the way to go....

You guys really have learned a lot from my prior posts haven't ya?
Yep run a 180/55 on 3rd gens, you can run a 180 on a 4th I've tried it both ways more than once and yes there's a diff in the turn in, stick with the 170 sorry to say, yea doesn't look tuff, but oh well get over it. that and FWIW I'm running on Diablos Corsas, wish they where the 3s thou, they don't make em in a 170 boo waa I say, still these stick like glue, getting about 7-8k out of em, whats interesting this time around, I might even get to do a 2 to 1 with the front, does that mean I've slowed down? Ya you can put a 5th gen on a 4th but there's some tags/bosses on the rim that need removed, better to find a 3rd gen, which is a direct bolt up. I'm looking at it this way now, Our 4th gen rims are the lightest of the bunch and since I'm not running out of tire, I'm good to go, thou I will say a single nut wheel ala RC45 would be sweet.

    RFVR,

I can't tell if your being sarcastic about the 3rd gen running a 180 55 or not. Is it ok to run it on a third but not ok to run it on the fourth???

    The 3rd has a 5.5" wide rim. The 4th has a 5" wide rim.

BOTH have the recommended size of 170 section tyre.

Make your own decision, but why buy bigger rubber if it's not needed ?
