    Hi All,

I pick up my 2002 VFR tomorow, it's a pre Vtec and therefore probably built in 01 and registered 02. I think what is called a 5th generation on this site.
The bikes done 14000 miles, is silver and has a Remus high level (road legal) exhaust, plus the original too. I get a seat hump too and should look really special when fitted.
The viffer replaces a much loved Varadero that I did nearly 60000 miles is about 4 years. The viffer has a lot to live up too and I'm sure won't dissapoint.

Does anyone else live in the South of England? I'm actually from close to Colchester in sunny Essex.

Welcome scoot! How it be? We have several members on here from her majesty's kingdom. If you are feeling frisky, you can also put up another thread under the europe column and somebody might have a better chance of seeing it later on.

Hi, Scoot. Welcome and congrats! I am a recent VFR convert myself, and you'll probably really like it. By the way, what is a Varadero?

Hi Scoot. I'm a newbie too from Dorset, (pronounced Daarsit:) ). I also got confused about the "generation" term, so thanks. Glad I'm not the only one!
I was round your neck of the woods last year helping out with an organised cycle ride. One of my tasks was to drive around route checking signs etc. The beutifullness of the countryside surprised me having not been there before, add to that the inevitable Essex jokes.
One day day I'll ride round on me 1990 VFRf (3rd generation I've found out!!) as opposed to a Land Rover.

    Colin

    hI all,

Thanks for the welcomes, and yes i'm sire the VFR will be a suitable replacement for my old Varadero XLV1000, Hondas big trail bike>

Colin, as chance would have it I was in your nick of the woods yesterday in Somerset at Langport near Yeovil - I won't try the local pronounciatian. I did try the local beer ;0

What bike ride was it in Essex, I've ridden the London to Southend, Tour of Essex from Harwich and marshalled a local ride in Ipswich with my IAM group.

Only another 5 hours until I pick up the Viffer, whoooohoooooooo.

    Thanks again for the welcome.

Hey there Scoot, not in your part of the world but just wanted to say hi and welcome. My wife is actually from England and we just returned from a trip there.

I also wanted to say to Colin your explanation of how to say Dorset made me and my wife laugh out loud.... she is from Dorset as well. Her mum and step dad are in Buckland Newton. Pretty county. I actually made the comment a few weeks ago when we were there how I would love to be on my bike on those isolated (albeit tiny) roads....Jeff

    Hi,

I picked her up earlier today enjoyed the ride home with my son on the back. and I hope to get out for a ride tomorrow, I will use her for work on Monday but it's not the same as a Sunday pleasure ride.
I will have to get used to the riding position and not be so lazy with gear selection and keeping the revs up. My previous bike was a Honda Varadero and the 1000cc V twin didn't need the revs or to change gears so often.
I do feel already that I am going to enjoy the ride and hope to be putting in some descent distance rides. I have a ride I do over to the Eifel mountains in Germany through France and Luzenbourg, it will give me a good comparison to my old Vara.

    Thanks again for the welcome.

You may wish to let her know we had our first real snowfall last night. In April!
Where in Dorset is she from?

Scoot, glad you like the new bike. This is my second VFR and have to say, being a 1990 machine, still has that "modern bike" feel. I did have a CBR1100 Blackbird a few years back, the only drawback being to have fun on it ie. feel like you were fast, you had to break the speed limit, the main reason I opted for this VFR. If that mkes sense.

    Hi,

Unfortunately we've had snow most of today so the VFR has not been out for a ride today. Never mind I'll take it to work tomorrow and start to get some miles behind bars!!

I'll be on the forum with some pictures when I get them taken and can work out how to post them.

I've started to think about plans to get over to Europe for a long weekend in May to give her a bit of a long ride. The trip I have thought about is 475 miles down small roads to Germany, couple of days in the Eifel Mountains, maybe a spin around the Nurbergring or a spin along the Mosel Valley before a motorway ride home of 375 miles - Should be a good test for both of us.

I'll let you know how I get on with the bike,

    Scoot.

Sorry man... as I mentioned earlier we just returned from England and left sunny warm weather here to arrive there and had... well you know cold and rain. I believe we saw the sun once while over there.

It does sound like you have some fantastic ride routes planned. I would love to spend some time on a bike around Europe.

Well, warm weather wishes from Texas to you mate.

    Hi,

I used the Viffer for my first commute today, it's only 25 miles and it was 1 degree C on the way to work. I didn't get as cold as expected - the heated grips helped - but I think the bodywork must offer quite a lot of wind protection. The standard screen isn't quite as good. I think a double bubble or sports touring screen will be on order soon.
Texas weather is probably soo much better than here, especially at present, BUT I'm only 2 hours frome Europe and all the lovely roads and scenery it offer. Only shame is they don't speak English:hippie:  Never mind, we'll keep working on them until they speak English almost as well as we do. Only joking, although I can't speak much of any other language it isn't actually too much of a problem to communicate.

    Enjoy the good weather,

    Scoot.

I'm from British Columbia. That's close isn't it? We speak English too but I am bi-lingual. I speak gutter too. My wife and my next trip is over that way. More Scotland though. She's paying too. Gotta love it. I think I see some distillery tours in my future.

    Welcome to the site:canada:
