Is Mc Cain a "war hero"??

    (MAY BE OFFENSIVE TO SOME)

NO: didn't he get what he deserved in prison, punishment for dropping US bombs on civilian targets in a terror bombing campaign in a useless, criminal war, now believed to be unjust by all civilized people. WHY???

He undoubtedly killed many children and non-combatants and was imprisoned for only a fraction of the time he deserved. For all the people he killed he got off lightly. I have not heard any regret or apology expressed for what he did.

As for his torture ( if he really was tortured), not good, but torture has been approved as a technique by the US government, so how can we blame the Vietnamese whose country was then being bombed every day????? OUR side routinely tortured prisoners in Vietnam (either to obtain information or merely as punishment) and uncooperative ones were usually thrown out of helicopters!

THE perspective of history has shown that that war, like most, was unnecessary and wrong.

I know this tool box is on my ignore list (you can still see the idiocy of your favorite ignored person if you haven't signed in yet) but if this isn't proof that he needs to be on EVERYONE'S ignore list, nothing is.

Squirrel, you actually made me illl. I had to take some Rolaids after reading this. I sincerely hope one day you need someone's help & they tell you to do the 100 meter dash in a 50 meter room. You are indeed, quite the waste of perfectly good oxygen & I am ashamed you are a citizen of the same great nation I am.

    KC-10 FE out...

War criminal? Hardly! He just did his duty - a shitty thankless dangerous job. He didn't declare war or plan the course of the war. He completed his mission with honor and that's that, Don't confuse the politicians who declare war and go home to their comfortable beds with the honorable men and women who do their duty. It's the same thing today. I don't have to agree with Bush policies in Iraq in order to give respect and dignity to the young men and women who serve in the military.

As for torture, it's wrong no matter who authorizes it. McCain never tortured anyone and he sure opposes it now.

I am not a big John McCain fan, but nobody deserves to be tortured for any reason. McCain was doing his duty as a member of the US Armed Forces and I respect the man for serving our country. No question about it, war is ugly. Soldiers follow their orders and do what they must to survive. Although I personally disagree with our government's involvement in Vietnam, I cannot condemn our fellow countrymen for serving our nation. All soldiers deserve our respect! If McCain did anything wrong while serving, it is to be resolved between he and his maker.

i guess not everyone feels the need to defend, or respect the people who defend this great nation. having been in places i didn't want to be doing things i didn't want to do, for god and country. i've got to hand it to the troops. the people who talk about the military(who have never been in) don't have aleg to stand on,or the training to use it. but we did protect their right to spew trash too.

Alright Squirrel, You have officially crossed the line. McCain was doing his JOB!!! Just as I did in Iraq (and I'd do it again). He was given orders and he followed them!!! War is a dirty business, but it is necessary in order to protect the freedoms YOU enjoy. If it weren't for McCain, myself and the countless other members of the armed forces doing the job, it's untelling where we'd be now. Speaking what?...German? Japaneese?...OH that's right, we wouldn't be speaking at all!! (that free speach thing we fought for, remember?) Never forget, as I fight for my rights, I also fight for yours. If you don't have the guts to fight for your rights and way of life, don't criticize those of us who do it for you!!

Is this a political forum now? OK, then.

Hey, nut job (or Squirrelman, or whatever name you hide behind). I know your type. Hate America, and blame America first and for everything. I have no doubt that while you spew your despicable venom, you're leaching off decent hard working Americans. You once again prove that today's liberalism is truly a serious mental disease. You disgust me.

ok, I'm not getting the message he (squirrel) hates America, I'm getting the message he hates war, torture and the like... Sure his posts are way out left, but I enjoy the liberty of him being able to post them...even if this is a motorcycle forum and John McCain probably could give a shit whether or not we (motorcyclists) have any rights at all...

another thing that makes me nervous is the pervasive view that liberal has a negative connotation. It is an adjective and like conservative shouldn't imply evil, just a tendency to look at things from opposite sides of the same coin. I believe (if memory serves) in government classes they teach that as you move extremely left you get to socialism and extreme right communism. (is that correct?) anyway, when I compare those two, they get closer to being the same than I like. In my opinion, and that's all it is, the majority of our nation is not liberal, and not conservative, but somewhere in between. Now, politics being what it is, you have to fight the good fight or spout the biggest rhetoric to the extremes of your party to get nominated. When all this nomination crap is done I think we'll see some backpedalling to get back towards the middle ground where most of us are and get some votes... Anyway... as far as the topic goes, John McCain, hmm, what do I think... I really liked the guy a lot more until the last year. He seems to be very personable and quite intelligent (something lacking in the white house for a few years now), but when he jumped on the we need to stay the course bandwagon, it showed me that he was willing to drop hi guns and go play with the rest of the gang. That makes me nervous about him. anyhoo... all this politics chaps my ass...:puke:

Why can't we all just get along? Because we can't, that's why. We are not built that way, and the option doesn't seem to be offered at the factory.

Killing each other over different beliefs and lifestyle is a pretty senseless way of resolving differences, but civil discussion and shaking hands does not seem to be within our capabilities, at this point in our evolution, anyway. Perhaps some day.

And the most important thing worth mentioning, that is easy to overlook, is that many of the people that we battle with do NOT view life as we do, and will not in the foreseeable future. Tragic, yes; but nevertheless true. We have the luxury, for the most part, of living our lives in a relatively fearless environment. We can also choose what we wish to do with our lives.

In spite of all the injustices and nonsense, this a great nation. It absolutely sucks that war is necessary to preserve and promote what we have become accustomed to, and take for granted quite unintentionally. From my perspective, it saddens me to know that all of us, everywhere in the world, have to fight to keep whatever it is that we hold dear, because others would take it away given the opportunity. Seems to be a human trait.

Sorry to rattle on. As always, when it come to humans, there never seems to be an easy answer, or a complex answer that we can all live with. Hmm, I'm beginning to see a pattern here...

As a 27 month combat veteran of Viet Nam and a rider of motorcycles for 48 years you're damn right I take offense to your ill informed and ignorant statements. You sir have shown me your complete disrespect and disregard for the men and women who serve this country standing and facing death on a daily basis with true courage and commitment. You not only insult the veterans of this country but every veteran of every country in this world. You disgust me.

:blah: :blah: :blah: :blah: Freedom of speech is our constitutional right and I stand by the first amendment for everyone!! And Ill leave you with a little ditty:

    Imagine there’s no Heaven
    It’s easy if you try
    No hell below us
    Above us only sky
    Imagine all the people
    Living for today

    Imagine there’s no countries
    It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
    Imagine all the people
    Living life in peace

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

    Imagine no possessions,
    No VFR's or motor bikes
    I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
    A brotherhood of man
    Imagine all the people
    Sharing all the world

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

I gotta say as a Army Vet I strongly disagree with Squirrel's statement, but he has a right to his opinion. War is war which means people will die - innocent or not - people will die. I am not necessarily against war because if I am attacked by someone I will attack back. As far as McCain goes he is a Vet and an American War hero. He did his duty and followed the orders he was given. There is a lot of details and propaganda that goes on in War and between the fueding parties. If you ever get the misfortune to enjoy serving in the military during war time then you will learn the only rule in a War is that there are no rules - that is for the people who are actually fighting the war. If you are not with the people there fighting the war with them, then you may not know what you are talking about. Many of those so called innocent people and children had bombs and guns. I know it may not sound good, but in battle when attacked you attack back - it you are not with me then you are against me and in war that means I will kill you. Not good but true reality if you want to live.

These are 3 of the 7 Army values, that fall right to what we are talking about. For 225+ years the Armed Forces of the United States have sefllessly defended our land and the constitution against all enemies. The Armed Forces as a whole don't have a political agenda. We have a mission to defend and protect at whatever cost. We can't sit around to think what right or wrong, about a mission. The job needs to be done, and that is what McCain did. Squirrelman have you heard the word Collateral Damage? That's innevitable in war. We have to watch for ourselves, and our buddy watching our backs, nothing else matters. Do you realize how many bithdays, anniversaries, mother's & father's day, etc, We've missed doing training, and fighting the nation wars while the rest of the nation lives a confortable life? Thank a soldier, because he's fighting every day for your right to be free and say whatever the hell you want to say, because I bet you that if you where in CUBA you'll be dead already for talking smack about the goverment. GOD BLESS THE USA :usa2:

    1. Loyalty - Bear true faith and allegiance to the U.S. constitution, the Army, and other soldiers. Be loyal to the nation and its heritage.
    2. Duty - Fulfill your obligations. Accept responsibility for your own actions and those entrusted to your care. Find opportunities to improve oneself for the good of the group.
    3. Selfless Service - Put the welfare of the nation, the Army, and your subordinates before your own. Selfless service leads to organizational teamwork and encompasses discipline, self-control and faith in the system.

See, B's brings us together - Beer, Bikes, Babes...

Can't we just get along? as we build a bridge from today into the future of a peaceful tomorrow for the children as we defend the constitution for people of all colors and creeds to advance the state of the art and spread democracy to the peace seeking nations of the earth since *YOU* are a point of light leading the way for others to follow to their local Honda dealer to purchase a VFR. Thank you. Please write in "Nozzle" this November.
