Some while back my Fi1 blew over against an iron railing, ending up on the right handlebar. Miraculously, no damage was apparent.

But after I've been riding other bikes and then get on the VFR, I notice its right handlebar is slightly more "inboard". Evidently it took the brunt and bent a bit. I've tried loosening the fitting and pushing it out far as possible, but it's not enough.

I just bought a pair of handlebars on ebay from a '99 VFR. I then thought I'd better see if they'd fit! Lo and behold, David Silver Spares lists handlebars but details them as for FiW/FiX.

Oh dear. Did Honda change the handlebars? Are they different on an Fi1? Surely not.... right?

    right...or rather, wrong.

Honda did indeed change the bars, and top yoke some point during the 800's lifetime. The yoke changed from having the split and tab engagement slot at the side, to round the front.
    Naturally the bars aren't compatible.
