David Silverspares has an '05 hardbag set (Silver) for 175 pounds, about $350.00 U.S. The U.S. dealers sell them for $800 - $900. Considering the $ difference, would silver bags look good on a pearl black bike?

Heck for that price, purchase them and then go here and get the paint that matches your bike and make them match. You will still come less than half the cost of purchasing state side.

I agree, just have em painted to match. You will still be under $$$$$$. And.... I asked DSS if they had my color and they said send us your color codes. I am thinking that maybe they would have had them painted up for me.

On the subject of having the bags painted, does anyone know how to get the painted lids off the bag bases? There seems to be a pin that is pushed through the hinge, but I'm worried about breaking the hinges if I try to pull them apart.

I think I'm going to order some for mine! I just need to find out for sure if they will mount up with Microns. Anyone know for sure?

Thats a very good price...how much is shipping to the states though? I think silver will be noticeable on a black bike, but not bad. There's also a chance it might look neat.

I'd say definitely buy them and see if you like the look. You can always have them painted later on.

[EDIT] I noticed that the CBR 1100XX also has factory bags. The cases themselves look identical to the VFR. Anyone here happen to know if they are the same part number?

I got mine from DSS (cost just under $500 shipped (don't forget to order the frame, the bags don't come with it))

mine are silver (bike is Asphalt Black)

I get complements on it, people say the silver sets them off

I'm probably gonna hit them up with some "Truck Bedliner" spray,
make them a little more "Tough" looking (cover up the "Boot marks")

Now that's interesting, you sold a red one to buy the new tri-colour.
So you like red but you like RWB more or did you just want a newer bike?

Has anyone figured out if the Factory Hard Bags will fit with the Microns?

I too don't want to spend the $500 and have to replace the exhaust.

    Thank you,
    Jim

For what it's worth, I have been going around and around with DSS by e-mail and phone. I asked about availability of the blue for the RWB, they asked for a color code, I sent it. They replied that they needed the part number, I sent one, they replied that it didn't exist for them. They then asked for the frame number, I sent it, they replied that they needed the paint code, so I sent both the frame number and the paint code and they then replied that they would need a part number. WTF????? Seeemd like a simple question, do you have hard bags in the 2007 RWB blue??? I'm just going to find the best price stateside and buy them, I'm already fed up just messing around for almost two weeks trying to get a simple answer. I would love to save a couple hundo but I just don't want to deal with buying a set and then having them painted.

Still have no definitive answer, I may buy a set and ebay them if they don't fit.

Thats why I bought mine here. I went through the same with them. If it's on the website your good to go, if not then patience will be needed. I have none.

Mine have yet to get attached but all ya need to do is push the pin out the way it went in. In some cases you may need to drill a little hole on the opposite side of the hinge to tap through. Best not to push the pin all the way through, you'll want to keep as much retention as possible.
