    Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the forum and I've just purchased a very nice 83' Interceptor.
    15,000 miles and completely stock.
I'll have a few questions to run by you all but my first one is concerning paint.
My tank is in perfect shape except for 2 chips at the back of the tank close to the seat. Probably chipped by a belt buckle or jacket zipper?
These chips are only about 3/16" big but I'd like to touch them up.
Is there a way to get the paint codes for my bike?
    Thanks for any help.
    Garrison

Well I think I've just answered my own question after reading that sticky up above about body parts for an 86. Do you think they would still be the same from 83 to 86?
    Thanks

You can sometimes find the paint codes under the seat. Look for a label that might be attached to the frame. If not, then you'll have to have the color matched by a paint shop. It is always great to see another classic bike being taken care of. Welcome to the forum.

Hey thanks for the reply, I'll check for that tomorrow.
    Next question,
My bike sounds tight with no odd noises or rattles during start up when cold.
I'm planning on keepng this bike for some time and changing oil often.
You probably know what my next question will be...
Whats your opinion on the oil filter mod kit?
Should I drop the roughly $300.00 on one or not.
To be honest, I probably will no matter what the responses are.
    Just curious though.
Got the title transfer, plates and insurance today!
Now all I need is some reasonably warm weather and I'm in the wind.

I'm not as computer savvy as I'd like but I finally figured out how to post a pic by my user name and info.
I took this one as soon as I got her home. I'll post nicer ones with my wifes help and when the weather brakes.

Before spending the money on the oil kit, if it is the one that diverts some oil flow from the oil filter with the adapter underneath it, wait until the valve clearances are checked and see how the cams look. It seems to me that Magnas had the same issue with the upper end oiling, but it really wasn't an issue with most of them. Very clean bike, from what I can see in the picture. Congrats, and welcome!

Since your bike only has 15K miles on it, I would go for the oil-mod. I've found that most bikes still in existence either didn't need the oil mod or one was added before any damage occured.

I've found that if the bike makes it past 25K without pitting the cams, then the bike probably will not need an oil mod.

Since you said you plan on keeping this bike a long time, I would get it - if for nothing more than peace of mind.
