    Bless your heart, Speed.
I've got your little girl in my prayers.
Remember, we are all human garbage, but thanks to Jesus, we are not worthless.

After having my ZX6R stolen with disc lock and alarm fitted I bought a magna chain and padlock and chain my VFR to something immobile. At the end of the day you have to secure your bike to something, otherwise thieves can pick it up.

Don't know if you get magna chains in USA, probably do, in fact thats probably where they are from. You can put a bolt in the floor of your garage for something permanent and chain you bike to that. Basically they will need an oxy torch to get it off.

    Cheers

I guess I should get some locks on mine after reading some of the post. The only thing I have on mine is LoJack. It will e-mail me, page me and call me all within 20 seconds when the bike is moved without the key fob witin seven feet.

Lojack and alarm, which wasn't an option in the poll.

as far as insurance, you take, or at least I did a beating on mileage and accessories -- unfortunately I know

place like a restuart or where i don't think its big target steering lock discalarm lock .. If I take to place i know someone is checking it out big chain big lock through back wheel discalarm steering.. when i get the time to get a hiddin toggle switch installed that is the key wire cutoff that way someone breaks your steering trys to hot wire your bike it will not come on ...put that switch in a hidin area not visible and only you and the shop worker knows.. had bike stolen before and friends aptartments are the worst places shopping malls industrial work areas high risk too.. i don't take it there a cover with the cable line lock over your bike good idea too then the thief doesn't know what it really is so doesn't look like easy target..either way its a bad world just gotta think about how many scumbags are around the area you are leaving your bike outta site.

When I live in Rembert, SC, some crack-head (literally) tried to break into my garage. I always kept a ratchet in the roller track when I was home. So, even though he broke the garage door handle, the door only raised about 6 inches. I woke to the disturbance, told the wife to call the LEO's, picked up my 3lb .357Mag loaded with Federal Hydra-Shoks & sprinted to the front door in nothing other than my glasses & silk boxers. I sprang onto the front porch & uttered once sentence, "Is what's in that garage worth dying for?" The crack head took off & lept a 6' fence like it wasn't there. Had he not run or tried to threaten me in the slightest, he would not be on this planet today. Unfortunately, said crack-head tried to break into my neighbors house. My neighbor was the Deputy Sherriff of Sumter County. He AND his wife took him into custody, in like 18 seconds, with a 12 gauge pump, .40 Glock & 4 Doberman's. When I spoke to the LEO's on the phone, they said something to the effect, "Hey, I see you live next to Dep Sherriff XXXX, don't worry, you won't need to press charges, we'll take care of it." Mr. Crack-Head was in prison in less than 36 hours. Sometimes the law can work but sadly, most of the time it doesn't.

    KC-10 FE out...

Wow - I never really considered any of this.

But Vermont is really quite different in this sense. I think that at the very least I'll have a disc lock in the trunk now...

I see a couple of others had ideas similar to mine:

.40 caliber Beretta and a permit to carry it.

I sport tour every summer; I use a large U lock that goes through the frame (4th gen.) and I use a large chain and lock to augmemt the U lock, they are a lot of combinations. Also the chian fits where the underseat toll kit went and there is underseat U log storage already on my VFR. JIM

well after seeing that surveillance video on u tube i don't think ill bother with my disc lock anymore. took 2 guys less than 30 seconds to load a rr into a dodge mini van side door. they just pulled up one guy in the van and one out side in broad daylight on a busy street and hoisted in to more than likely a stolen van.
sorry with my limited computer skill i dont seem to be able to copy and past URL. but after watching it i wonder if my bike will still be there when its out a sight. i didnt know it was that easy

do a search on you tube Honda cbr600rr stolen and it should come up if you own a bike you should watch it. to see how easy these bastards steal them.

in the great white north we dont have a right to have one of those nice theft preventive measures. i guess thats why all these crack heads are heading up here, its safer to ply their trade. if they do get caught their lucky to see any jail time

    Steering lock
    Bike cover
    Full coverage insurance
    SIG SAUER 9mm

Had a bike stolen from apartment parking lot before (CB750 KO), but state police recovered it, and busted a bike theft ring in the process. Thieves had appox. 300 Honda m/c keys, and would just cruise around until they found one to match their keys.
