C'mon now...if you just sat on it, your wandering way can be excused, however if you took her out for a spin a ride report is a must!!! I am seriously considering getting the 1098 S next year if I get promoted. There are also 2 guys in my shop that are getting the 848. I don't mind the 848 but to me the black Duc looks impressive!!!
Ducati is a repsectable stable mate for the VFR. It is ONLY a stable mate, right? You didn't give away the VFR, did you? There will never be another one like it.
This is kinda like the gov. of NY thing right? Expensive ride on the weekend.... you misappropriate funds that have been entrusted to you so you can get some tricket for her... has Italian friends from NJ.... the friends come on the Today show to say what a nice girl the 1098 is? the VFR stands at your side when you have to face the fact the 1098 has gotten you in trouble yet again (yes, more tickets) and it no longer will start for you. http://vfrworld.com/photos/showphoto.php/photo/8170/ppuser/1472
Ah all too funny guys, Heres the low down As a many know I'm all over the Duc, No I'm not sitting on it, that photo is me leaving the parking lot. yea weather was getting close to iffie, by the time I got back, sprinkles where in the air. Ha, man oh man my smart button gets pushed every now and then saying you sure about this? I mean how smart a bike is it? We all know how great the VFR is for the most part any riding that can be done she''ll do it well, and with a smile to boot. But the 1098 has something more. So a while back a rider friend bought one, teases me every time he gets a chance, as he knew I wouldn't get rid of my VFR for one, but he knew I was lusting for one. It had been awhile since we rode last, but last evening there was a local bike gathering, wouldn't ya know it he shows up on his Duc. As he walked in the door he tosses his key to me, then gives me a wink. saying go ahead take her for a spin. Ok I'm not one that will jump on some one else's bike, but this was to good to turn down, and that I've been wonder just how good a bike it is? I've rode one before at a dealer but only around the block so what does one get by doing that, not really anything but a Grin. So I took his offer, 30 miles later let me tell ya, There will be one in the garage as soon as a couple things line up, I'm still not selling off my VFR, but man o man talk about a ride. First off, once moving was just how nice the bike fit. For me it was like a old pair of slippers, everything just fell into place. Not to mention i'm as giddy as a girl on prom night. Then there's this sound coming from beneth, Oh My, whew, and you thought gear driven cams were Hot, Wow, Once off and running down the road I noticed this bike has the right touch, everything is where I'd want it, didn't feel waded up either, which I really thought it would as the 996 was/is a tight fit. Not this baby. next Ooo the brakes are to die for I mean it stops like I would like, so positive, just a finger pull away, LOL but with the off throttle compression, who needs brakes, that in it's self will take some getting use to, if your not in the right gear going down it'll let you know with some tire jumping sliding. Not bad just a wake up call on what you're riding. Then there's the other side of the coin, she sure does like to boogie, no trouble at all lofting the front in 1st 2nd 3rd and the fun thing is it's like doing it not so much on purpose but if you bring in the throttle at the right rate something about power wheelies you know the kind that come up a few inches and stay there., no stress what so ever you want action you dial it in. If You don't want the power, thats cool she just tucks her head and goes, very nibble, carries her weight low. Here's a surprise which I was sorta hoping, low speed stability was great, not to mention tripled digit sweepers Doh! All in all not as a harse of a ride as I was expecting, it's no VFR for sure, the suspension is taught, I really wouldn't want it any other way.. could maybe, na was going to say a tank full and you'd want off, NOT! and did I mention the bark Oh My something you could listen to quite a while, Sweet! Now how to figure out how to get this past the wife. two bikes, oh boy..?
Cool, glad you enjoyed your ride. Hopefully I'll be able to coerce my co-worker into letting me take his 848 out when he gets it in. Did I mention that I'm his supervisor??? When I got to sit on the first 1098 to come to Germany, the only things that really bothered me about the bike were the uncomfortable seat, for that I'd go to Sargent. As far as the cheap rear sets, well I believe Sato makes a set for the 1098, and I'd also change out the exhaust shield. Hopefully I'll study my ass off this year, and get promoted this next year. Although I'd almost rather get the wife her Volvo XC 90, as I could use that to trailer my bike to the track... Definitely liked the write-up, thanks!!!
