Next I would look into gutting the stock cans. Gives a nice sound and some weight loss. Unless you already have aftermarket exhaust. I have not gutted my cat. yet, just the stock cans. Then probably 02 sensors or air filter.

would the removal of the gut affects the computer on the bike or the performance? Would this affect the O2 sensors?

Don't toss the cat internals in the trash. Scrap dealers will give you good money for the contents, as there are "precious metals" in there.

Would the removal of the cat internals affect the bike performance or would the bike start at all? My bike is a 2005 vfr800 vtec. The cat went red glowing hot and it must be removed.

I've done it about a year ago. The bike starts right up. Unpulg the 02 sensors and replace it with a resistor or a 02 eliminator. Great sound specially if you got a Leo Vince. The bike looks a bit more strong!!

where do i have to put the 330 ohms resistor? Is it one or two I have to get? Do i have to unplug the o2 sensors and just put the resistor at the end of the sensor?

I wouldn't expect "gutting" the cat would give you much benefit unless the cat was damaged from overheating (and possible melting).

The large empty cat casing left behind probably doesn't promote the most optimal flow of exhaust gases--there will probably be a decrease in velocity and scavenging ability, not to mention the unknown secondary effects from the resonance within the cat casing.

If you must go cat-less, your best bet for performance would be to cut out the cat and weld on a real collector, or get one of those headers that has no cat in the first place.

Hello there!... It's two (02) resistors and just like you said, unplug the 02 sensors and put the resistors at the end. The wires come up from the cat is useless at this point so tape up and forget about.
because air flow is mutch better, the bike will cool down. Simple mod and works pretty good.

I think more importanly would be "why did your cat glow red hot" ? Thats not normal, and i think your only going to create or mask your real issue.
