hi guys, i recentley purchased an 83 vf750f. i got really sick of the ugly fender and duct taped signals, so i decided to bring some life to it. i took off the black lock bars that the signals were mounted to, then i hacked the fender off too. i just got some new (better looking) signals, and flush mounted. i remounted the liscence plate light, and put everything back in place. when signaling, for some reason it illuminates at about double the normal speed. and also, the front and rear signal lights stay illuminated at all times when ign is engaged im 100% sure that all tail light/signal light wiring is proper. is there anything else that may cause these problems? any help is greatly appreciated.
Not sure if your marker lights are supposed to be on at all times with that gen. On my 5th, the front signals run nonstop though... I can help with the fast flashing. Sounds like your new signals are LED. You need a load equalizer for each circuit. (one right, one left). Super easy to install and pretty cheap. Can get them at your local autoparts store if you want, or here. http://autolumination.com/equalizers.htm Looks similar to this:
Yeah, what SLO said. LED's flash at a faster rate than normal bulbs. On the 3rd gen, the front signals lamps stayed lit at all times, kind of like marker lights or parking lights on a car. I do not think the rear ones were like that tho.
The front ones stay on all the time. The rears only light when signaling. However, on my Magna, I ran wires from the front right and left turn signals to the rear so I could have running lights on the rear (used front turn signals on the rear). Are your rear turn signals single element (2 wire) or dual element (3 wires)? If your signals flash too fast, replace the standard thermal turn signal relay with an electronic one - about $8 at most auto parts stores. The only caveat is the signals won't flash fast if a turn signal is out.
