Hi All, I just joined this site yesterday. I bought a new 06 VFR...luv it.
The one thing I want to do is replace the headlight bulbs. Are they all H4s?
    Any recommendations?

Welcome to the site! Sorry not sure about the bulbs but perhaps the owners manual will state what type they are. Happy riding....

I checked the owners manual..."4 bulbs". It doesn't say anything else.
I checked some other threads and found I need H4 & H7 bulbs.
Piaa's seem to be best from what I have read. Now I just have to figure out which ones!

i replaced mine with silver star bulbs (the lowbeams are H4, the highbeams are H7) they'll pop right in. the rubber boots were the hardest part for me to get off. pretty straight forward, didn't really have to remove any of the fairings.

I have read that a lot of these bulbs have a short life. Piaa claims to have a anti-vibration series of bulbs. I am going to look into those.

Welcome to the Forum. And that is a ROGER on the bulbs...two H4s and two H7s. My vote is PIAA. They are very bright and last an acceptable amount of time. Just don't touch the glass when you install them...the oils on your skin WILL cause them to blow prematurely.

    ONWARD, THROUGH THE FOG!

Taz is right on...and I had wanted to suggest the gloves but spaced it out...they are your friends. I keep them around for so many reasons. Always keep some in your cage and on the bike for when you need to get your hands dirty and then jump back on or in. Keeps the grease off your clothes, the bars, etc. I learned that from my bicycle days...putting on derailed chains and then having to ride, go to work, etc. Greasy hands are a drag. I use them for handling other things that don't want oils on them, like my crotales (small, cymbal-like discs), cymbals, artwork, etc.

Use the right tool at the right time and be happy, ah, good Karma!

Thanks for the advice. I was on the Piaa site discovered they make the anti-vibration bulb in a H4, but not H7...go figure. FYI. If anyone is considering changing their grips...check out Rizoma.com. They look nice...however I don't know anyone with them.

Oh, it is a great line for the ladies..."would you like to come upstairs and see my crotales?" Works every time! (See the picture below...they come in two sets...the high octave and the low octave. The drummer in YES uses them.)

But back to the topic...here is the real question...on the 6th gen, do you REALLY have to take off the two little side panels of the fairing to allow access to the bulbs? (OSS thinks not.) If you have small hands I think you can replace one set without removal but the other set looks next to impossible without removal. What do y'all think?
