I'm sure this has been discussed before but has anyone done anything like creating a mod like this for a 5G? I've looked all over the net but have had not luck finding a manufactured one. I'm looking for something like the RACEFIT SLASH. Any ideas?

I, like you, have been looking around. There have been a few people to do something similar that I have seen occasionally, but I think they were one off jobs... It would seem like as long as you get the diameter, you could make it work fairly easily, but no one wants to pony up the initial cash for a 'seems like' project. (at least I don't)

How much cash are we talking? I have seen some projects that people did relatively cheap, although I don't know what the outcome was regarding performance, noise, etc. I have a cat-free header that is collecting dust in my garage because I have been too busy to install it. The existing one seems like a likely candidate for experimental surgery!
