Blue 2001 VFR? Were these ever sold in the US?

I'm looking at a used 2001 800FI and it's blue. This struck me as a bit odd but the guy has almost convinced me that this is a legit Honda color for that year and that very few were sold. But I can't find any reference to a blue bike anywhere.

It looks great, and all the Honda decals and detailing are there, but I really want to know if this is an OEM color. If he's lying to me about this, who knows what's up with the rest of the bike.

So, 2001 VFR in blue: yes or no?

The only color available in the US for 01 was red. There were blue ones made for Europe and Canada only.

 

Blue VFR

Pull the seat and check the paint code tag on the subframe. The real Honda blue is called candy Tahitian blue and the code is PB215C. Supposed to be import only, non-USA but a few may have snuck in. Before buying, check to see if the speedometer is kilometers or miles per hour.

 

It is most probably canadian... couple of my friends here have that color...

 

We do have blue color in Canada. I just bought a blue 2000 model.
