Can anybody tell me if the two piece Sargent Saddle just comes off with the key (and lever push down) like the stock seat, or if I need to remove the rear seat cowl "allen screws" to remove it? Looking at the website I was slightly confused. I was wondering if I needed to buy those "Fast Access Pins" to remove the seat quickly? I am assuming the fast access pins just replace the stock rear cowl pins to quickly remove the rear cowl without an allen wrench, but I was not 100% sure if it is to remove the aftermarket sargent seat.

Ok,. I think that sounds confusing to anybody but me....hmmmm...maybe I should smoke that other rock now....

I have the two piece Sargent and ordered it specifically to be able to have a small amount of storage available under the passenger seat.

Most of the time I have the passenger seat removed and the rear cowl cover in place (I like the look).

I elected to stay with the stock "Frankenstein" bolts rather than utilizing the "quick release pins" (pip pins).

The main reason I chose that route was that the pip pins required the holes in the plastic to be drilled out and I didn't want to do that.

I have attached, behind the license plate bolt, a large washer that I use as
a slot screw driver to remove/tighten the Frankenstein bolts.

Actually a quarter might do it also, but the larger diameter of the washer works very well.

So far, I am quite please with the Sargent seat both in comfort and quality.

I'd be curious as well. I wondered about that later after I ordered mine on Wednesday, from Sandhill Powersports (group buy from vfrd, had to take advantage of the price). The Sargent website seems a little light as far as more detailed photos. I'll let you know once mine arrives, but I'm sure someone here will have the answer by then. It does look like the cowl overlaps the back of the rider seat by an inch or so. I'm also wondering how the passenger seat attaches to the front.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting the seat; mine's on it's way out, with 2 nice splits in it (previous owner - the issue was minor a year and a half ago, but time has made them worse and I've just been putting off spending the money).

yes it comes off like stock, and yes you have to remove the cowl because of the overlap...

I have the 2 piece leather Sargent seat and it works just like the original. The front slides in toward the tank and the back pushes against the front and clips into place. You remove it the same way as the orignal, turn the key, pull down the lever, remove the back and then slide the front away from the tank to remove. Just that easy. The seat is quite comfortable being a bit lower and wider than the original. I'd rather be sitting on leather for long rides as well.

    My .02

My bike came with the sargent seat when I bought it. It is the most comfortable motorcycle seat my @$$ has had the luxury of sitting on. It also looks damn nice on the bike. I've also had a comment or two from passengers who say it's more comfortable than most seats they've been on.

Anyone know if there is a decent looking smallish backrest (like the corbin gunslinger) that will work with this seat?

I got the quick release pins with my two-piece Sargent seat. Ugly, but functional. I did not have to drill out the cowl holes, but I did have to drill out the threads.
