I am just guessing here, but if there is no stain, I would tend to think the resevior was empty or close to to whe oyu parked it. Again, just a guess. I would get some fresh fluid and bleed the system and look for leaks. You can also pull the slave and look for signs of a leak there, even though there is no sign of one on the ground. AFAIK, hydraulic fluid does not evaporate like other fluids. Someone else may jump in with a better idea than mine.

I would top it off, and pump the lever a few times hold it in and look for leaks. Maybe put some white cloth or papertowel under your bike so you have an easier time seeing the drips. I would not ride it until you figure this out though....could get you into a pickle. I normally love pickles, just not those kinda pickles...

The slave is, of course seperate from the cases. If I remember right, there should be no fluids between the slave and the cases. However, you may get a small amount of weepage from the pushrod area, nothing major though.

just add more Dot 4 .....slave seals shrank and leaked but will recover in warmer temps....

Worst case would be a $20 seal rebuild kit, but this problem usually heals itself.
