There I hope that works, I didn't want to change Kevin_70's, #70 or RDT64's , #69, so I just moved PJC up the ranks a bit. I hope this is acceptable to all. We certainly don't want to be accused of inflating our numbers by the 1-5 Gen guys!

I seriously doubt that! With all due respect, sir, the General's responsibilities are far too great to be dealing with the day to day details, that's why he has a decent Lt. to look after such matters for him.

    black bird

Excuse me for prying. A honda blackbird owned for 24 hours? Sounds like a good story to me.

Not a good story... but a story just the same.

Its not a pretty story. When the original Blackbird came out well I had to have one, so I traded my VF1000R and my GS550L on it. It was sweet, It has all the power that the VF should have had, and was on a significant diet compared to the VFR. Fast powerful, and with the Two-brothers exhaust had that Growl...

So first things first take it home and dial in the suspension swap out the stock rubber grips for some closed cell foam ones (mmm nice and squinchy.) and then of course the test drive...

So I take the bike out on a section of RT 1 where I know I can open her up and lo there is a cop in the mini-mart no joy today. So instead of punching it I tool by doing the speed limit. But the cop pulls out anyway, and follows me. and follows me right to the county line. where he pulls off and goes to sit in the shopping center parking lot looking for speeders going the other way.

So here I sit at the stop light waiting fr the light to change. Mirror check, look left, look right, look up at the light.... notice loud screeching. Think, oh sh*t I know what that is... and roll on it.

Unfortunately a Blackbirds maximum acceleration form a dead stop is no match for the minimum deceleration of a speeding FORD LTD going over 100mph who notices you about 20 ft before impact.

I manged to get up to about 30 mph, in first gear before I was ionized. I remember the impact as a "boomph" sound (which turned out to be the rear rim being shattered in 4 spots and the tire being popped.) and then the slow-mo flying sensation.

(So this is what superman feels like I also remember thiniking.)

After that I do not remember much else about the inevitable landing. The memories begin again with me laying on the ground taking inventory slowly flexing fingers, wrists, elbows, etc... searching for pain. After what seemed like forever I decided that (Now mind you after an accident of this nature your mind does not work properly.) I should go and get that guys insurance information and give him mine. So I sit up and then try to stand up Managing to get my feet under me only to have them cave out and wind up kissing pavement, so after three failed attempts, I try to crawl over to my bike to get the insurance paperwork. (later I was to find out that my one knee was dislocated and the other one had torn ACL, PCL and LCL - nothing holding it together and this is why I could stand but not walk.)

So about halfway to my bike I decide perhaps I better not go there, since it was now on fire. Apparently the gas tank ruptured (actually everything from the triple trees back was crunched.) and something light something else off.

So O start to crawl back to the driver of the ford. at this point I suspect he panicked, since he drive the car straight at me (luckily for me he was so drunk that he missed.) Threw it in reverse and tried again but this time missing me by an even wider margin. and then took off back the way he came.

So now I realize I'm a victim of a hit and run, and am beginning to grasp the entirety of the situation, and realize that I;m probably substantially injured, and probably going to die. (after all the horror stories my Dad would keep telling me in an effort to convince me to get rid of the damn murder-cycle.)

about this time the 20 or so people come running up to me to stop me from moving, apparently the were in more shock than I, and all I can remember is repeating KCX-4937 is license of the bastard that just killed me...

Now the funny stuff, the distance I actaully managed to move after the fact 2" with 1 180 degree turn (I could have sworn I crawled along further than that. as I was crawling for hours... or so it seemed.)

That cop that followed me, well he witnessed the whole thing, when he saw the driver running he pulled out with lights going, the driver being as drunk as he was T-Boned the cop. and got out the Cop who was not pleased as he had to crawl out the passenger side of the cruiser was even less pleased when said drunk took a swing at him for being in his way, and explained it to him thusly.

After that I was medi-vaced to the trauma center at HUP, where many doctors and nurses poked and prodded me and took many photos of my internals.

Long story short... 3000 total fractures, though most were only hairline, All my ribs were broken in two places. LT knee dislocated, RT knee destroyed (Had 6 surgeries on it.) Rt hand shattered. Skull broken in 3 places. 18 months in hospital and therapy. Six months after I got out before I could drive a car again without having a debilitating panic attack from someone tailgating me. 3 years before I could get the courage up to get back on a bike. 12 years later and I still get panic attacks from tailgaters, though each year they seem to get milder.

The drunk... the DA (Lynne Abraham) cut him a deal, what with it being an election year she waved the criminal charges, attempted vehicular manslaughter, assaulting an officer, Etc... in exchange for a guilty plea for all the other 24 motor vehicle offenses. Net result he was sentenced to jail for 90 days as his fifth offense, and lost his license, Oh wait he was driving without one....

When I questioned her about her actions she said she was acting in the interests of the people of Pennsylvania. I told her I am the people and you are NOT acting in my interest. After bitching he out she threatened to lock me up if I continued to slander her.

so what to do, I called MADD looking for some satisfaction to which after explaining how I was the victim of a drunk driver, I was asked if I needed counseling for my drinking problem. I told them that I did not have a drinking problem and was the victim of a 5 time offender, and wanted some assistance/representation at the trial (which I would not be able to make being in the hospital.) and they bluntly said, "why are you calling us if you are not seeking assistance for a drinking problem." I then politely told them that I was sorry for, not being a child and also being killed since that is what it seems to take them to get motivated. (bunch of self serving feel good, hypocrites.) and hung up.

Blackbird total loss, and I still had to pay the loan payment off.

Yes the drunk loser had no insurance, no job, no assets and was living off his loser girlfriend.

Bitter, Me just a tad. :)

    Smash

Not 3000 bones, 3000 fractures, most bones were not broken clean through but some poor x-ray tech had to count each and every fracture line. luckily only the ribs and hand broke clean through, everything else was called a stress fracture meaning nothing broke completely through.

I remember the Doctor saying something to me to the effect of not to try to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk as it would likely snap my left arm clean through.

Welcome Biketoc and thank you for sigining up as a member of the 6th Gen Militia. It is totally amazing that there are 75 of us now, I never would have thought..........

Ok Cyborg, you will now be known as, well, Cyborg LOL! Made the change to get rid of the other call sign you so deeply disliked!

It's not that I disliked "RDT64" it's just I've been using "Cyborg" as a call sign, sig, username, etc for many moons so I figured why not here too. Besides, as my G/F wannabe pointed out, "RDT64" sounds like an ED medicine...
