Hellow vfr world,i just joined this website and trying to get started.Im proud to say,"I have a 1985 vf1000r,"it needs some TLC whith motor issues, but other than that this bike bike is beautiful,it still has factory spec stickers on tank, fairings ect... Ill post some pictures soon, right now i have it apart to try and find tapping noise in the right front cylinder, its not too bad or at least i hope its not!!!!Maybe some of you can help me out,I realy think the bikes worth fixing up,like i said the paint is still in show room conditionno scratches no dents.Anyway nice to be here ,looking forward to chatting. thanks:biggrin:
Nice, I've always like that model. 86 a wee bit better, dual headlamps. fFngers crossed for ya it's just a lose valve shim?. reason I say that is by the time the Vf1000R came around Honda had solved the dreaded oil starvation problem to the head that ate valve trains, besides you have gear driven cams and I'm pretty sure the 1000r have a different setup over the Vf1000f of 84. lets us know whats what, thats a prudy bike.
great bike my fave of all. i have 1 myself. there are not shims in the valve train they are tappit adjusters. get a book thru honda (only place to get 1 for vf1000r) due a valve adjustment. parts are a PAIN IN THE ASS to find tho:smash: :yield:
