    Good Evening:

Pardon my "newbieness" if this is in the wrong section.

I am contemplating the purchase of a new 07' RWB w/ABS. I will be trading in my Harley (I know I'd get more selling it privately, let's not go there). Dealer seems willing to work with me, the RWB has been on the floor for almost 9 months.

Dealer cost with no profit is 10,140. Because it's an 07, it will be worth only 9,340 as soon as I drive it off the lot. I'm going to try and split the difference and offer the dealer 9,700 for the bike.

This is in the Los Angeles area. Can anyone comment on pricing for this, as well as actual prices paid in the area. I am out of my element with the VFR pricing.

    Thanks

    Phuqet

There's one on eBay right now (ABS) that has a "Buy It Now" for $8899. You could use that price and listing as leverage for your dealer.

I tell ya... being in Canada and paying what we pay, this topic hurts... it really hurts. I guess if I keep her for life it reduces the loss.

I bought mine this month, "out-the-door," for $11,699. This includes tax and dmv fees. I live in the Bay Area. So, doing the math, it looks like a "zero" deal for the dealer. Having once sold cars, I have some sympathy for the dealer and sales staff. They've got to eat too.

Appreciate the feedback. I am somewhat sympathetic to the dealer. My rationale is that they will make some $$$ on the trade. Trade-in value for my bike is $5000, which is what I want. Retail for my bike is $7100. I will surrender the difference to the dealer so they can make a buck.

Bottom line is, I want the VFR for cost if I can get it, and give up the profit on my current bike.

    We'll see.....

    Any other comments are appreciated.

Looking at my sales receipt, I paid $10,600--so not quite the price you're looking to get. Good luck with your approach!

Who told you dealer cost with no profit is $10,140 ???

I assure you there's still wiggle room in there. He's making a profit at that cost.

Ther is an '07 RWB on the floor of one of the local dealers here in Nashville for $9,999 right now. It was $10,999 last summer.

    It sounds fair.

You will end up paying less the most and more than someone somewhere. If you can live with that, you'll have a terrific bike that you'll enjoy.

Pull the trigger and start enjoying... you deserve the splurge (well, I think you do since it's a RWB like mine ;-)

I got a pricing report off of the internet, recommended by a friend.

    www.cyclebuy.com

Cost me 14.99, but I feel it was worth it. Correction on the rate; it reads "Ready to sell cost: $10,114", which is before any dealer profit. Printout came with several tips on negotiating the deal as well. Overall, worth the money for the report, I feel. One other interesting point from the report, the VFR has a 5% "holdback" on the model. Honda Mfg. rebates 5% of the dealer cost back to the dealer when the bike sells.

I will probably go next weekend or the week after and see if we can hammer out the deal.

Just for a reference, I paid $9,999 out the door (including tax, lic, etc) for my 07 RWB (non-ABS) in September '07 in Auburn, CA. Good luck...
