the reason you've never seen a vfr jump a bus....is because it's a better ride and the stunt man might survive?

(Quote)Ummm, you may want to check out what most of the Top Fuel motorcycle drag riders are running and winning on these days. (Quote)Well actually,Alot of that winning has to do with the fact that The NHRA has restricted japanese bikes so much that the cards are realy stacked in harley's favor. The raceing buell's and harley's are running things like external cams and such,While the japanese bikes are just now being allowed to run early forms of fuel injection on thier bikes. The japanese bikes are also running old engine configurations in their bikes as well (early 80's)The NHRA has stacked the odds in harley's favor Because they know that's the only way harley's can be competative.

I have a Liverpool, England Harley tank top that an old coworker brought me as a gift. Interesting story... He was about 20 years my junior, and had a late 70's or early 80's Harley, I don't remember what kind (I never saw it). He had tried to adjust the valves himself without a clue as to what he was doing, and now it wouldn't run anymore, so it sat in the garage collecting dust.

He was living with his girlfriend (not a very pleasant person...), and was possibly having to face bankruptcy because of an ex-wife and bad decisions, and was distraught about the possibility of having to lose his Harley. I liked this kid quite a bit; he worked hard and generally had a good attitude. So I offered to give him $3500 cash for the bike, buy whatever parts it needed and repair it myself. I would possibly put a few thousand miles on it, but when he got his financial life straightened out, I would sell him his bike back for $3500 plus the cost of the parts, no charge for the labor.

My motivation was that I had never worked on a Harley, and I wanted to just because I hadn't, and that way he could keep his bike and not lose it in the bankruptcy.

He talked to his girlfriend about it and she convinced him that I was trying to rip him off. I tried not to take it personally, but I suddenly understood how he managed to get his life in such a mess.

And I STILL haven't worked on a Harley, darn it!

I feel for you. That must suck. I have a daughter with a pretty serious health issue but not that bad. I can't really imagine how tough that would be to deal with. Hang in there.

With the exception of well wishes for the health of some of the posters loved ones, I think it's safe to say that this thread has pretty much ceased to have any real purpose. Just like a HD since they have no real purpose either.

    KC-10 FE out...

crap on 2 wheels. and not just the bike.

it never ceases to amaze me how everyone else on a bike (even a FREAKIN MOPED!!!!!!!!!) will give you the quick motorcyclist "wave" when you pass them going the other way.....except the jackasses on hogs.

hog boys can keep their shiny chrome crap-mobiles, i'll keep rippin em up on my viffer.

I firmly disagree. HD has managed to keep the motorcycle trailer manufacturing and sales business THRIVING!

The local HD is actually giving away giant motorcycle trailer away this weekend. They know how to bring Harley owners in!

A harley dood cut me off the other day while I was riding. He pulled out of a shopping center right into my line without even looking. So I pulled up to his left rear and revved my bike. He did not hear or probably even see me and just kept riding. DORK.
