The installation was a bit more complex than I originally thought it would be. It started out as planned but then it seemed like a lot of VFR parts were lying on the floor and workbench. But then it began to come together. Finally, Voila!

Why did you take the tail plastic and light assy. off? Nice pics, I love my Carbon Leos and I am sure you will too.

I have about 4000 miles on my C/F Leo's. I have always liked the sound and quality. As many have said, they also get a little deeper/louder with age.

Well, it seemed like taking off the cowl and light assembly would make the job easier. The LV instructions were worthless, so we made it up.

I put a Power Commander and O2 eliminators in at the same time, so off came the tank and the left fairing too.

It has a nice mellow sound without the silencers, but not as nasty as my brother's 900 Supersport with Termis. I am running the Staintune map for now. Is that the best DynoJet map for my setup? Has anyone tried the European configuration map for the Leo Vince's and stock airbox? As it is, the throttle response is much smoother at low RPM and midrange power seems improved. The VTEC trasition is seamless - but I never really had any complaints with that with the stock EFI It was rainy, so I don't now what happens at high RPM yet!

I might take a trip to the shop for a custom map. Or maybe I'll buy a new airbox and THEN get the custom map . . . .

By the way, here's a pic of the 748

That is the best downloadable map from Dynojet for your configuration. You are exactly right about the midrange increase, these cans make a very nice difference over the stock cans in this range. Not to mention the weight you lost, which will help your CG.

Buy a BMC filter, if you haven't already. For the airbox: Pull the snorkel, Disable the flapper valve, Screen the openings and do the PAIR block, THEN get the custom map. You have to do the PAIR block before the dyno tune, otherwise the tuner will just pinch off the hose. If you think the VTEC transition is smooth now, wait until you do the custom map.

Alaskan, thanks so much for sharing the pics. I am just about to do this install on monday, so I will have to take some shots as well, but yours are a great help.
Quick question: the pipe that joins the left can to the right can, is it about the same dimensions as the original "Y-Pipe" or whatever you want to call it? I am wondering if it protrudes any further aft or if it actually goes more straight across between the cans than the stock setup? Please let me know!

Killer looking bikes! I cant wait to hear mine!

NeverlosT, I am not sure I understand your question about the pipe to the left can. Don't worry because the setup is going to fit perfectly. Mine did, although some tinkering was required to get the cans to line up perfectly with each other. Here is a weblog I found on another guy's install (wish I had found this earlier!):

Another pic of my VFR all dressed up in its new Leo Vinces!

I checked out that link Alaskan, the only problem I noticed was that he left the Rear Pilion Bracket off . I don't know what you experienced, but mine fit perfectly  I also see that he ended up with four of the spacers left over, I ended up with only two of the four spacers being left over  I think if he would have installed one of the spacers on each side, in between the LV clamp and the rubber stock mounts, he would have been able to mount the Pilion Peg Bracket correctly. I also added a fender washer, of an equal diameter, against the inside rubber mount before I installed the nuts and tightened them up. I believe his description of Dodgy Home Job was pretty accurate, although, WTF do I know..... He did use my spirit level trick though.......BTW your LV Carbons look very nice -Good Job!

I am referring to the pipe that brings exhaust flow to the left can, you know the one that is kind of oval instead of round that curves from the right side to the left side? I just want to know if it wanders far from the path that the OEM pipe took. I have LED's under the tail (see avatar) and want to make sure the pipe doesn't extend any further back so that I don't melt them!

Thanks! I will check out that install link.

I am not sure whether the LV pipe that feeds the left can bends exactly the same as the stock pipe. Sorry, but I didn't check that. No reason for me to check, I guess. It's true that LV could stand to hire a guy to write assembly instructions for the kits, though. The instructions are pathetic!

Norcal, I had 4 of the LV spacers left over. I just used the OEM grommets for the mounting. They worked fine. I am not sure why the guy on the weblog couldn't make the bracket fit and couldn't mount the passenger pegs. Everything fit together very well on mine.

On the maps, we tried the Euro model map for LV from the DynoJet site. Too rich. The bike runs pretty darned good with the Staintune map, though.

I am glad to see that you have already been using the versatility of your PCIII. I would not EVER want another carbed street machine. Carbs are a PITA. Having a laptop connected to the internet and PCIII is pretty trick stuff. The Staintune map worked good for me too, but I am now a firm believer in the custom map / dyno tune. I think you really need the dyno and the EGA to get it exactly spot on, tune out the rough spots and to really smooth up the VTEC transition. Just my .02.

You did a really good job with your install, welcome to the LV side of the house!

Funny, I didn't have to do any of that when I put my Staintunes on... just pulled the old pipes off, and put the new ones on...

I really like the sound those carbon LV's make though, I'd be tempted to trade my 'Tunes for a set!

You don't HAVE to custom map, but it certainly helps smooth things out, especially the VTEC transition, the dyno is your friend..........respectable gains can be made in the 0-2,500 and 6,000-7,000 rpm ranges.

    Nice job! Two questions:

    1) Can you fit the license plate directly between both cans and flush up against the undertail?

    2) If so, can you please post some pics? Thanks.

The plate won't fit between the cans without cutting the plate. I don't have a fender eliminator anyhows - like sebspeed in that regard, I guess. It rains a lot where I live . . . .
